Personally, I'm all over the place. With SNES games, I basically just went on Cherryroms or whatever it was clicked on whatever looked cool and had high ratings. With newer consoles, downloading is quite the frustrating, so I'm pretty picky about it. I do read reviews, but the most valuable information for me is my friends' opinions or the opinions on the message boards I go to. I've only got one N64 rom (WWF No Mercy) and two GBA roms (Final Fire Pro Wrestling and Pokemon Fire Red). But when I do get a game, I play the crap out of it. It's partly because my computer is a 4-year-old, hand-me-down, bare bones college laptop that belonged to my older sister, but emulators are the only real video games I play. The clinching factor for me, I guess, would be the replay value.

Reviews on the internet mainly, but I'll first check it's genre, most likely I'll look for rpg/adventure or fps, I'll also look for video's and when I buy a game it'll most likely be dropped in price since it came out first.

It all depends on what kind of game I'm getting. If i'm looking to purchase a game that you normally cant download, i'll definatly look up reviews, watch videos of it, etc. to see if it's worth purchasing. Now if i can download the game and play it on an emu, then i'll just see if it looks cool and give it a download.

I'll usually take a look at some pictures or trailers of the game and then I'll take a look at a review or two and then decide if the game is right for me

Hard to say... I mostly follow the series I like...Like Ace Combat, Castlevania, Sonic, Syphon Filter (waiting for Mercs 2 and Freedom Fighters 2!)I also judge based on genre, storyline, gameplay and other things... needless to say... I don't buy a lot of games.

I choose all my games at Random, with an advanced mathematical scheme.First I have a complete Stranger tell me their favorite number, then I hit the nearest game store and count how many game titles there are on the game rack, I multiply those numbers together then subtract my birthdate from the sum. After I have that final number I count in alphabetical order across the game rack cycling back to the start if the number is too large until I land on a specific title... then I count how many letters are in the name of that particular game title, and I multiply it by how many fingers I have at that given time, I subtract my height in inches and then I pick up the one with the pretties color scheme.I own over over 10 dozen games sheerly based on cover art... IT'S TRUE

Usually i research about the gamecheck the graphics on the screenshots and if the storyline seems interesting I go for it...Anime-based games are different though. I usually just get em without question

Um, if it's in a series of games (like Advance Wars or Star Wars, etc) then I'd want to get it if it's better than the first. Otherwise, I research it, see if anyone else has it, and read online descriptions and reviews about it. Or, if I'm just bored in a store, I buy on impulse.

As a MegaMan fan I learned not to trust reviews a long time ago. So I pretty much just think it through myself. I do read up on the game, I just don't take reviews at face-value. Characters I'm familiar with will help, one of the reasons I never felt too eager to jump into the Final Fantasy franchise: they recast every game.
