I look at the schreenshots first. Then if the graphics is bad, i won't even bother playing the game. After i read the review and if the game should be good i play it.

What I usually do is read the previews. I usually try not to let reviews from professional gaming sites affect my decision even though they do =\ I also like to look at demo videos on the game from youtube.com. One of the main things that affect my decision however are the player reviews, because sometimes the professional gaming sites just feed to gamers. i.e. If any gaming site gave Madden '07 a bad review then they'd be shunned by half the casual gamers out there.

I think it's the interesting factor also. If I find a game that seemed very interesting to me, or something I would find fun playing, then I'd get it. :D

Well I'm too lazy too read the reviews, I just read the name and look at the box art/screenshots. If it looks interesting I'll play it.

I usually follow the critics on some, unless it's a series i really really like. Or if it's heavily reccomended by others

I do a lot of research before i buy a game just so i know i didn't waste my money. I look at a lot of different websites like ign and gamefaqs etc. I also read reader reviews and ask friends if they've played the games before.

I was curious on how most of the people that visit this site go about choosing their games that expand there collection, whether it be a Rom or a legitimate copy of a game. Do you guys solely go off of what reviews say, and what scores these games get? Or do you think to yourself “Hmmm this might be interesting, think I might try it”? I personally go for the “Hmmm this looks interesting” approach. But what do you guys do?

i play the games i played in my younger days and if anything looks interesting ill be like.. hey this looks worth a try.

I usually look for my favorite type of game first (RPG or shooter) then base my decision off hours of gameplay and story line

Most of the time I get something that I highly anticipate, or something that others have good comments on. Sometimes I get it because of reviews too, but mostly it's just from what I anticipate.

I know it's really shallow, but I chose them based on art, like tales of symphonia the only reason I picked it up was because the art was really good

I would have to say that the best way to choose a game is to hit the vid store and rent it if you think it looks interesting. Also any more there are downloadable demos and review videos to check out online. then if you like it the nearest game store is your final stop
