my advice, the new megaman games suck, they are nothing to do with the old ones, they dont even play n e thing like em, theyre a disgrace to a good name and you should jjoin me in boycotting them until somebody gets some sense into their heads, btw, you should check out the megaman collection for gc, ps2 or xbox

The classic series and the old X games (1-4, maybe 5 and 6) are still and always will be the best games to bear Rockman in their names. Although Battle and Chase and Super Adventure Rockman were very enjoyable, as well was the quirkiness of Rockboard.

For me, Megaman 7 was the best in the series. It had all the old-school characters from the anime show.

7 was easily the worst of the classic games: terrible center of balance, weakened rock buster, nearly worthless special weapons, and the slowest final boss fight ever. Forte and Gospel's intros are really all the game contributed. Fighting Blues was fun, and can be really hard sometimes, but the Blues Shield is won too late to be useful and it barely blocks anything. And if you are talking about that american made cartoon (I assume you are since there never was a classic rockman anime, by the typical definition of an anime, there was only a Rockman EXE anime), that was god-awful and butchered just about every character in the series.Granted 8's balance was pretty bad too, and I didn't appreciate the stretchy look of a lot of enemies, and let's not forget the ear bleeding English voice acting, and a dumbed down psx version (Saturn's is far better). But it had some fun stages and amusing bosses; the first Wily stage was a wonderful test of reflexes and its boss fight required a good sense of angles. 8's Japanese voice acting was much better, it was the same cast, but they weren't being forced to speak in a foreign tongue, so it sounded better.

The Classics of course, and MMX 1-6, though I liked 3,4,6 the best.

Why is this topic even posted on the GBA section if everyone says that the best were on SNES, PSX, and NES consoles...Anyways, Megaman Battle Network is alright in my opinion. A completely different style of gameplay compared to the classic. Enjoyable for periods of time also. The classic Megaman serie was the thing that started everything. Personal favorites are Megaman 2, Megaman 5, Megaman 6 for the NES, Megaman 8 for the PSX, Rockman & Forte for the SNES, and Megaman 1 and Megaman 5 for the GameBoy. Nothing beats the classic feel of the game. The X serie, on the other hand, started off to be the best of everything. The first 4 games of the X serie were really good, and hitting X5, it started falling apart until X8...Megaman Legends, a very unique style of game at the time, setting Megaman in an adventure game. That was one interesting twist to the titles and was actually good. But through all the Megaman games, my personal top favorite is Megaman Zero, a new slick design of bosses, major tweaking on the classic system, and a storyline that actually doesn't repeat Dr. Wily or Sigma over and over as final bosses (or before final boss), makes this one a jewel to play.As for secondary games such as Megaman Battle & Chase, Super Adventure Rockman, Rockboard, and the Megaman Power Battles and Fighters, they do add as an addition to a Megaman collector, although they aren't that great of a game...And finally, my personal list of butchered Megaman games:- Megaman for DOS- Megaman 3 for DOS- Rockman & Forte for Wonder Swan- Megaman X6 for PSX- Megaman X7 for PS2

My Two Cents:Classic Megaman- The original, and still the best! Sadly, this series has not seen a new game in many years (Megaman and Bass was the last, and it was a SNES port)X- Still good, and the first games held on to the classic flavour. After 6, they descended into sub par-ness, and they were only really good untill 3-4Legends- A Decent new spin on Megaman, though very different style. Not bad, but the series is dead-ish. Feels like something other then a MM game.Battle Network: Pretty cool the first one, now they are just repititive. This dosent feel like megaman anymore...Zero: Ah, a return to the roots, but much different. Good, but still no comparison to the classic X and MM games. Also, i would have to say my favorite was Megaman V on Gameboy. I think it captured the feel of megaman well, had great new ideas and the best bosses and stage designs the series has yet seen.

Definately, Rockman World V was great; also one of 2 standard rockman games where Wily wasn't the last boss (those pc megaman games don't count, iirc, they weren't made by capcom, neither was Rockman and Forte WS, but Quint getting some spotlight was nice). The Space Rulers, Rockman Killers, Quint, and Sungod- a wonderful boss line up there. Spark Chaser and Grab Buster have to be the greatest weapons since the Thunder Beam.Wily Tower deserves an honorable mention- being able to pick 8 weapons from anything from Rockmans 1-3 and 3 rush or items weapons was an awesome feature. Nothing too special about the stages, but if you are a huge Journey to the West fan, you get a real kick out of Buster Rod G. Interestingly enough, the 6 weapons from the DRNs, with Hard Knuckles and Metal Blades was the only set up that you really needed- most of the other weapons paled in comparison.
