Squirtle because he can defeat Charmander with no problem. Another thing, Blastoise is my fav poke of all time, he is so much better than charzard!

I like fire Pokemon, so naturally, the three fire starters would be my choice, particularly Charmander (and its evolutions), who is still my favorite Pokemon of all time. However, that always presents difficulty, since the first gym fight is almost always against a rock gym leader and rock Pokemon have resistance to fire. If you're looking for the most effective for the first few battles, then one of the water or grass Pokemon will be better.

I would definitely have to say Charmander. Mostly because of his uber powerful attacks. Even though it is kind of hard to get through some of the gyms

i would say charmander. if raised properly and evolved to charizard, he is unstopable.

Granted, Torchic/Combusken/Blaziken's the most versatile(normal,flying,fighting and fire moves...)but Mudkip's sooooo cutee............

i think its Totodile because in my game i thought itAriel ace which can take out grass type to sohes pretty good against the two starter pokemon in Jhoto.

Mudkip because of its type when it evolves and its defense and its moveset range i dont like charmander because it is overused and overrated...i make it a point to raise all my pokemon to completely massacre fire-type pokemon just because i hate charmander and friends...

I chose cyndaquil b/c typhlosion is my fav evolved pokemonbtw, the water type starters like mudkip have high hp but relatively low atk and spd, whereas fire type starters have higher atk and spd, which is why i like fire-type starters better

I ussually go with the PLANT pokemon no matter what pokemons there are, the legendary ones come in high levels and they cover teh Lightning, water and fire attacks.Plant is neccessary, so I overtrain my starter
