i reckon the water one is good cause i like the water element and its the first water/steel pokemon, the fire monkley is just the same as blaziken

Cyndaquil was my first, cause it was so cool lookin...Then Totodile because Feraligatr looked cool in Cyndaquil-chooser's rival battles.Then Chikorita, because I felt bad.

I, myself, will choose Hikozaru, the little fire money. I always used the fire starter in every game and they've never let me down. Plus if Serebii's list of all pokemon types are right, there's only about 4 new fire pokemon in the game without including the starter pokemon and his evolutions so I'd pick Hikozaru.

I definately wouldp ick the fire monkey becuz in the past games the fire pokemon have always seemed the strongest and they have helped me out in all of my other games. I guess it's up to what type you like, but for me it's fire and i love the fire type. the grass has bad defense usually and i like pokemon with high attack, and that's what you get with fire pokemon.

I've played Diamond and Pearl and no question is that the water starter pokemon, (name escapes me :P), is the best. Even so I think they all are not as good as other pokemon you can get, take Lucario or Bronzong, they really are quite good, better than the starters >_>

Not sure which one is the best but the starter pokemon are:GRASS; Turtwig -->Grotle-->TorterraFIRE; Chimchar--> Monferno-->InfernapeWATER; Piplup-->Prinplup-->Empoleon

I chose Cyndiquil because I like Fire Pokemon alot. My favorite is Arcanine because it looks so royal in Red and Blue. Charizard also looks cool in Red and Blue.

i started with cyndaquil not for any real reaons i just thought he looked cooler that totadile and chikorita. i never really use my starter pokemon.

I usually pick the fire starters, but I'm a sucker for Pochama when it comes to Diamond/Pearl. It is so adorable.

According to a website i found, Turtwig the grass starter is on average 1.4% better than Piplup the water starter statistically and 3% better than Chimchar the fire starter statistically. Piplup the water starter is roughly 1.6% better than Chimchar the fire starter statistically. So this time Fire is the weakest not the strongest whilst Grass is the strongest not the weakest.Also: Turtwig's evolved form (Torterra) is Grass/Ground, Chimchar's evolved form (Infernape) is Fire/Fighting and Piplup's evolved form (Empoleon) is Water/Steel.Type wise it would help if you know what the first couple gyms are to help you pick your starter like in fr/lg bulbasuar was good for the first 3 gyms, squirtle was good for the first gym and charmander had a disadvantage for the first 2 gyms.I hope this helps you decide on who you want.

i think i'll go with the fire monkey, because of looks, and i usually choose the fire type starter pokemon.

In my opinion, it is Piplup, the water penguin. Not for power maybe but for the fact that it has an interesting final evolution.

fire rules in past games all the fire pokemon have stonger stats (if you dont believe me go to pokemon.com and go to pokedex and search for your pokemon and you will find the stats for all 386) and ur rival picks stonger pokemon than youexample:you pick: fire. rival picks: wateryou pick: water, rival picks: grassyou pick grass: rival picks : fire
