err..i chose treeco because:a. torchic's evolved forms can't learn flamethrower...and i think that's an essential move for any fire-type pokemonb. mudkip i didnt choose because it's always really easy to get good water-type pokemon in any pokemon game

The best is mudkip if you go for the razonable, because there is no water/ground and the only posible way to kill they is with a grass pokemon and there is only one good grass pokemon and is treeko (for my) and the grass pokemon are very week to fliyin, fire, poison and one or two more that i don't remember.but the more cute is torchic.and for my i don't use the starters, except mudkip for hm slave. i use all pokemos catched and trained for my since the level 2.the one that i like more is torchic because i cute and the evolutions are very powerfull

Isn't whiscash a ground/water pokemon? Besides, there is no fire/ fighting pokemon other than combusken/blazeken

The following are base stats, not actual stat values (which are the numbers you see in the game) - base stats are used to more accurately compare the stats of different Pokemon. All numbers can be found at Serebii.net: http://www.serebii.net/Sceptile (final evolution of Treecko)HP: 70Attack: 85Defense: 65Special Attack: 105Special Defense: 85Speed: 120Blaziken (final evolution of Torchic)HP: 80Attack: 120Defense: 70Special Attack: 110Special Defense: 70Speed: 80Swampert (final evolution of Mudkip)HP: 100Attack: 110Defense: 90Special Attack: 85Special Defense: 90Speed: 60You'll have to decide which one has the "best overall stats" on your own. Depending on what you want to use the Pokemon for, your preferences may vary.

I've always picked Torhic for some reason, but Mudkip is the best starter.

Treecko is the best for overall DOMINATION!!! But Mudkip is the best starter as treecko doesn't have that much of an advantage over him

In emerald the legendary is water (sorry if im wrong its been a while but i'm pretty sure that emerald) So if you choose grass the rival chooses fire and while it may be a hard start I say that at the end you are very strong with this as long as you get the legendary with the master ball from the rockets base

Actually, you get both legendaries in Emerald (you're thinking about Sapphire). It's just that you can't get them until after defeating the Elite Four, so that's not especially useful if you plan on using a legendary against them.Besides, your rival isn't THAT difficult to defeat, so I don't see why that should factor into your considerations.

In sapphire is treecko the best, because the most pokemon are water. In emerald though I don't know I think it doesn't make so much differense

The easiest to use is Mudkip and torchik is the hardest and the grass dude is medium so i would choose mudkip for beginers.
