Toadadile, he could learn all the HMs you need in the game except for waterfall, thus letting you get the 8 johto badges without any other pokemon.Squitle is simalar in that he could learn everything but cut, but cut is much more important than waterfall so toadadile wins.

for the oldest red blue yellow series, i go for either squirtle or charmander.for the jhoto silver gold and crystal series, i go for totodile or cyndiquilas for honemn version, i would go for mudkip

OHHHz the best starter is water types they dont have tat much weakness and they deal powerful dmg on several other types....

i think squirtle is the best starter for me, it would be more popular but considering that water types are thelargest pokemon type group in the game, there are better water pokemon, but i don't care squirtle was my first starter and it always will be.

Swampert! Swamperts own all!Swampert has a great moveset, and only one weakness, grass. If you teach him Ice Beam, it will make it easy to beat... pretty much anything.

I never got into the newer pm games I thought that red and blue were straight out classics, And well I always used that cute little turtle, Squirtle he's so coolSwampert! Swamperts own all!Swampert has a great moveset, and only one weakness, grass. If you teach him Ice Beam, it will make it easy to beat... pretty much anything.
I didn't evolve him until level 89 I forgot to press the B buttom 
So he was stuck as a wartortle

I'd have to say Charmander, Mainly because Charizard is the most powerful of the evolutions, because it's type is Fire/Dragon. And dragons are the most powerful pokemon.

Charmander's my favourite. Not only can it learn fire and flying attacks, it can also learn dragon attacks, when it reaches its last evolution.

For the Kanto region, I'd choose Charmander 'cause when he evolves, he's fire/flying, and I tend to go for the multi-types...For Johoto, it'd be Totodile, just because I found him easiest to use, and you don't come across many grass type foesFor Hoenn, I guess Mudkip is best, once again because he's multi-type as Swampert and, unlike Torchic/Blaziken, you don't see many trainer pokemon with its weaknesses...

From red and blue id go with bulbasaurgold and silver id go with chikoritaand ruby and saphire the only one that was cool and didnt suck was torchick

I tend to use Blaziken (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald). Not the greatest all-around choice, but it's great for defeating the Elite Four.
