Torchick is a good starter because its got a high atack and is got kool evolvementsi like torchik but i dont no if itd be the bestPlease state a reason for your choice.

i always choose the fire starters..because i think fire types are strong..but i also love totodile..

charmander is best ands down. The original pokemon was great and no release since has matched it. The pokemon now are just strange, my favorite was dragonite and alakazam.

Mudkip because firstly he is cute as heck, secondly he turns into a rare water-ground type which gets rid of the Water type's common weakness to electricty, thirdly he learns some strong attacks like Mud Shot and Muddy Water.

i love charmander in the beginning the fire pokemon is like the strongest. Later it's not really but i power train all my fire pokemon so that they can own even water pokemons.

The very first Pokemon I got was Squirtle way back when Pokemon Blue and Red were out. I would have to say that he is definitely my favorite starter Pokemon out of all of them.

My favorite has always been Squirtle. Mainly because I just randomly picked one of the starters back when I played Blue for the first time, and he happened to be it. <_<

I only played the original 150. I say bulbasaur is the best because he is useful against a lot of the beginning gym leaders and wild pokemon. You don't fight too many fire pokemon. Personally, my favorite would be squirtle just because I dont like too many of the other water pokemon and he's not too bad, not to mention he can use surf.

no one can beat charmander char! ^_^V it is easy to train beacause of the grass, insect, flying and normal pokemons around (e.g. bellsprout, caterpie, pidgey, rattata , etc.) -without water-type pokemons! plus metal claw damages effectively on rock type pokemons (brock's pokemons).... you can catch a pikachu at the viridian forest to beat misty and abra can be found beside the bridge at cerulean city (the one you passes in able to get to bill's) NOTE: the way to bill's house was full of trainers, they offer much more experience than wild pokemons... their pokemons can be defeated easily by your charmander.... a big advantage to gain level.... however, dont raise the level of your pokemon too much unless you have enough badges to make them obey....
