My favorite is Squirtle. It's so cute and stuff. Second favorite is Torchic, assuming final stages count. Blazikan's fighting/fire combination rocks.

Competitive gaming wise, Mudkip and Chimchar and the best starters to use. That being said my favourite is Treecko, mainly due to the anime.

Pretty much I would choose Pikachu from Yellow. The speed is high and attack and to raise other stats just evolve it to Raichu.

Mudkip. Swampert has good defenses and very good attack power and he only has 1 real weakness.

Why do they look the same? Anyway, my favorite starters are usually water Pokemon like Squirtle or Mudkip so I wouldn't need to find a Pokemon to teach Surf to.But for Diamond and Pearl, I use Chimchar because there aren't a lot of fire Pokemon in the beginning of the game. >.<

starter pokemon always end up with screwed up EV's in the end but for versatility I like Charmander because not only that he's cool, he has a very expansive moveset for breeding, TMs & HMs.

I've always liked the older generations of Pokemon better, and for this it's no different. I'm going with squirtle. It, chamander, and cyndaquil are the coolest looking starters in the series, but color-wise I like blue better, and cyndaquil doesn't really get cool until its evolved forms. Squirtle's cool from the start. When I'm playing, I don't think about stats when I'm picking my pokemon, I just choose the ones I like best.

I would say the best starter pokemon are the fire types. They usually have scratch which I think does more dmg then tackle even though tehy have same damage. I just like the look of it.I also think they have higher attk raises. Im not certain though.

On the classic poké, i liked water type above all else, it was easy to get through the first part without a hassle. I suppose i would choose water on everything else.. hah

I think that Squirtle is the best starter so far, but i am partial to water poke so that may have something to do with it. :D

Im the same way. For some reason im very partial to Squirtle in the R/B and FR/LG. Mabey its because it was the first pokemon i lvled to 100 and its not really weak to anything with the right move set

In pokemon yellow your rival's starter Eevee was the best due to it's evolution line; You also get Eevee as a starter in X D: Gale of Darkness

I pick Bulbasaur for a very good reason. And that is, good against the first two gyms Brock and Misty. Always my favorite. And IMO best attribute.
