Grass pokemon is always easymode for starters. Why? Because you own few first gym leaders with it easily. But I almost always prefer fire pokemons. Charizard :nea:

Cyndaquil is my most beloved, but Charmander ends up the coolest Pokemon.

I vote Charmander for RBY, and Totodile for GSC. I guess Mudkip for RSE, and I won't even consider the DPP ones because I find them quite stupid. Sorry.

Charmander is doubtlessly the best for the first generation. The first gyms are harder, but it has far more potential. I like totodile for gold, etc., but Cyndaquil is probably best. I never played 3rd Generation. I don't really care about 4th generation. Forget the starter and immediately trade yourself a level 1-5 Gible.

i personally like charmander, because it evolves into the awesome charizard! squirtle isn't bad either. i think the first 3 generations' starters are decent, i don't really have any problem with them.

I would pick pikachu. Because in pokemon yellow you eventually get all three of the original starting pokemon.

I like water-types pokemon, they have more HP than other starters, that's what I think so. I would pick water-type starters for every game. XD

I Think that infernape is the best started because its easy on most of the gyms with high attack and for the begging gyms it could be easy with fighting moves.

Mudkip. The evolved form had ground and water, so it wasn't weak against much. Also it looked awesome.

Pikachu. Yellow was the first pokemon game I played and let me tell you, bringing Pikachu up to level 21 just to beat Brock was enjoyable at the time.

Mudkip All the way. He is adorable, and you can actually beat ruby just using Mudkip and his evolutions. He learns all the required HMs and then just use the move deleter for the elite 4.

I think Torchick because it starts out strong, and learns moves quickly, and finally, is very reliable

Totodile and Charmander have always been my favourites simply because I loved reptiles and dragons. Playing Red, first gym was rock and fire is the worst you could start with, but I worked harder with my pokemon simply because I wanted Charizard.

Hm. That's always been a relatively interesting question I've noticed revolving around the Pokemon series.I don't have much opinion for the first, second or fourth gens, but for third, I usually stick with Mudkip, despite how dreadfully slow it gets. Only because Watson proves to become a pain if you don't have a ground type with you, usually (and all the ground types that you can catch are usually tedious to train). For all the others, I'm usually biased and I chose the fire type. Only because what's infuriating is that there are so few fire type Pokemon around anyways.

Piplup & Totodile. Starts out adorable and when they evlove to Empelon & Feraligatr they become the two most awesome looking starters. And Empelon's variety of resistances are awesome.
