well i always been a fire pokemon guy but in 1-151 chamander 152-251 totodile 252-351 torchic ( fire-fighting combo owns in sapphire ruby and not so much emerald but still good) 352+ chimchar

Torchick in the saphire/ruby versions, bulbasaur in the normal versions. I like them both.

I always liked squirtle probrably because he was my first starter and the original games had by far the best line up of pokemon there is something nostalgic about the original 3 i would take any of them over any of the startes from subsequent games

Personally Torchic,it turns from cute and cuddly to Cool and dangerous and in battles and pokemon contests I get the best results with torchics final evolution

mudkip becasue its a little bit stronger than the rest of the hoenn starters....have you noticed that in emerald plus it will evolve into a swampert one day hahaha

Out of everyone, I think the best starter would have to be piplup. good steel pokemon are hard to find, and he's got good attack and special attack too.

totodile by far. He will see you through the first gyms easy enough, and once you get feraligator you can tool on just about everyone

In R/S/E I've always been fond of Treeco. (sp?) Because after a game play experience I learned that there is already a great fire pokemon, Groudon, and a good water pokemon, Kyogre. So that eliminates Mudkip and Torchic. And the only good grass is Treeco.... So do the math and draw your own team together with those 3 pokemon.

I like taking ....Squirtle-- in all those old game (blue red, FIRE RED, LEAF GREAN) I just want to eventually get Blastois's Hydrocannon.CYndaquil-- in Crystal and Gold and Silver.... Typhlosion is just so strang AND fast, a perfect combination.Treeko-- in Emerald Saphire and Ruby... Skeptile is just awesomely fast.I havn'e played diamond and pealr yet.

i'd say torchic because it ends up evolving into blaziken, a fire fighting pokemon, which is really good against the elite four

Torchic was epic. Fire and fighting. Then when you get it to blaziken your almost unbeatable.

I like torchic myself. It'll later on become a fire and fighting pokemon named Blaziken. Blaziken's pretty epic with its fire fighting moves.

Favorite would be Charmander, means you had to train hard to beat the first two gyms.

The best starter pokemon out of the first 3 eras which is all ive played, definitely comes from the red/blue/gold series. Bulbasaur is the only grass pokemon that is worth crap, and he is good because he has the advantage at the first few gyms where it is crucial. Charmander has a major disadvantage at the first 2 gyms but this can be overcome by easy training on all of the wild grass pokemon. Squirtle is my favorite because he is all around good, not just temporarily. Typhlosion gets the award for the coolest name in the history of the universe tho.
