squirtle just because if you dont think about it dosent the turtle look the best out of the nine?

There is no best as they all have an advantage over the other, but if u r talking about favorites, then like everybody, it would be Charmander. I think its first form looks really cute and all and its last looks so cool and strong.

Personally, I'd have to say mudkip, because it has so few weaknesses.Fully evolved, Chikorita is very powerful, as well as torchic. When Charmanded evolves into Charizard, it's nice to have a powerful flying pokemon, but in reality much better flying pokemon can be found (ex. Zapados).

Actually the 2 first leaders are easy with Charmander,you just gotta train a grass pokemon together with him,like Bellsprout.

Woo! The 4th gen starters are kinda funky!The grass one looks like a tortoise mixed with bulbasaur. Although it's name means Sprout Beetle...so maybe that whole beetle thing comes later in its evolutions.Then theres a monkey with a flame tail and a penguin

Call me biased because I'm a fire lover but in EACH of the games I've played (from RB to GS to RS to FRLG) I've picked Charmander, Cyndaquil, and Blaziken. Charizard has double effectiveness to grass 
and he learns a few dragon attacks too. He also learns Blast Burn and Heat Wave in FRLG. Typhlosion just looks more "explosive" than the other GS starters, and Cyndaquil is cute. Torchic was just there because Blaziken has the potential to have a great moveset (pure fire attacks), while if I had Swampert, I'd have to make him my water HM slave, and Sceptile's best LEARNED attack is probably Leaf Blade.

I allways picked charmander because he was my favorite pokemon from the show but he does have a little trouble when you fight misty

bulbasaur, 1 cuz he is good against almost all the gyms, 2 because there are very few good leaf pokemon so its good to have atleast 1

Treeko is probably the best starter. It well balanced and level up to be strong.

I choiced bulbasaur when i first played my red version. That's because it was just nice and i liked green colour 
And you could beat the first gym leaders easily.

I like Charmander.1) I like reptiles, and Charmander is a lizard.2) It evolves in Charizard ( Kinda like a dragon. I love Dragons.)3) It is a fire type and I love fire.

For Red/blue Squirtle cause he can easily defeat most gym leaders, for silver/gold/crystal/ i like Cyndaquil cause once it learns flame wheel its pretty strong, for emerald, sapphire, ruby you can choose between Treeko or Mudkip. Mudkip is pretty strong once it learns muddy attacks, and Treeko for its overall stats.

squirtle. i don't know i think water types are the best to start out with. but i definitly like squirtle, it's a turtle! how can you not like it?!

I think its charmander, because in Red, and blue, he is stronger than all the rest! And stronger is better, just because it is.

Hehe in the G/S/C verison I found a way how to get all of them so that doesn't matterIn R/B its fun to get squritle because my brother told me something about Bulbasuar giving the most expFor R/S/E I never played that verison cause the Pokemon series there got me a little mad -_-
