My favorite would be the first, you can't beat the classics (in most cases.) The third generation games just have too many Pokemon, making it near impossible to "Catch 'Em All" as the phrase of the old games was.Discuss:-Favorite Pokemon gaming generation-Favorite Pokemon generation-Favorite Pokemon (Optional)-Too many or not enough?EDIT: I screwed up my poll, please don't answer it. And if a mod sees it, can you try to delete it?Poll fixed.EDIT: Thanks.

I like the 4th gen, it has Naetoru and Pocchama, the grass and water starters. Also Diaruga is awsome.

i like cyndaquil the best because when it reaches typholsion it's still pure fire, and i can teach it thunderpunch to take out water types pretty easily.

charmander is way better because in the recent games his flying type actually gives him some advantage

My favourite is the second generation. Gold was my first pokemon game and I have always thought that the second generation was the perfect equilibrium between simplicity and complexity. Whereas, the first generation was too 'basic' in terms of graphics, the third generation was too complex in terms of mechanics. Only the second generation found the subtle mixture between them and that's why I liked it the most.As for the fourth generation, the first screenshots and pokemons seems good looking but I cannot judge until I play them.

 ody's first pokemon agme was gold!! and i thoguht he started from the first generation :PMy favourite is also teh second generation since it had FULL colour, able to go to two regions, you fight someone similar to Ash called Red, also the story in Pokemon G/S/C was kind of similar to the anime "Pokemon Johto Journeys" :D

Squirtals the best, for me he seems easier to train and has pretty powerful attacks. And you've gotta love Blastiose's hydro pump. He pretty much is able to stick through you the entire game, but any pokemon can do that.

I only remember the pokemon from the first games and back then, I always started with Squirtle. They've changed their movesets a long time ago so I have no idea who I'd choose now. Possibly Charmander for the Charizard evolution.

Charmander is the best in my opinion. Just because his attack sets range compared to the others and many times despite the gyms charmander proves to be more reliable.

I would say either treeko or bulbasaur. I have always found bulbasaur to be the best starter because he is good at the first two gyms.
