Cyndaquil, since I find Typhlosion to be an excellently versatile special attacker. And the cute factor doesn't hurt either...

that all depends on what you nplay and how you play itfor rby: bulbasaur, as its not just strong vs the first gyms, but he also is the ultimate tobybro-killerfor gsc: ingame: totodile and the hedgehog make an easy start, although none is really recommended for advanced battlingthe rusa/e metagames: mudkip makes the easiest start, but all are great to use, esp with the support from emeraldfr/lg: bulbasaur makes, again, an easy start along with squirtel. for the advanced metagame, the have only barely any use...

Torchic, hands down. He swooped the entire Elite Four in Ruby/Sapphire without even breaking a sweat.

i do remember one thing.
it took hours and hours but.
by the time i was done with it.
i was so involved. i didn't even know what to think.
i carried it around with me for days. and days.
playing little games.
like. not looking at it for a whole day.
and then. looking at it.
to see if I still liked it.
i did.

For Pokemon R/B/Y: Squirtle because he's so cute :) For G/S/C: Cyndaquil because Typhlosion rocks. For Ru/Sa/FR/LG/E: Treeko because Sceptile rocks too.

personally i stick with the waters. they pretty easy to use in the very beggining. but after a few battles with ur rival, he'll have an up on you and ull be pretty screwed. picking the fire one aint so bad. hard for the first few gyms usually tho. the grass kinda sucks in all of them. they become pretty bomb donkey at the end but otherwise its like damn man yd i get it... if u put the starters to their final evolution i think the best would be blastoise tho. hes got it all. the moves, the speed, and the power. the only really good starters at the end are blaziken, venasaur, charizard, and blastiose.

My money is in Totodile. Since it can use Water, Dark and Ice skills later on. Plus you can breed and get rockslide and another skill which I've currently forgot. All those skills makes it a quite worthy Pokémon. And I've almost forgot.Water Pokémon can use Ice attack. Your rival would proberly have grass type Pokémon.Ice v.s. Grass = good.
