I always choose Treeko cause, I never changed pokemon, and It went to lv100, so I won the game (with some other lv40-50) and even the fire pokemon couldnt beat my best pokemon (just ta tell you, I only trained grass pokemon)

I would say it`s a tie between Cyndaquil and Treecko.

I choose charmander because it looks real cool. Plus it has good attacks and killer stats when it becomes a charizard.

Bulbasaur for me, mostly because it (and its evolutions) is the only grass type I use besides Tropius. Also, it's pretty versatile, and has leech seed, which is IMO one of the best moves in the game.In R/S/E, however, I go Torchic, because Blaziken just rocks. One of, if not the best fighting type ever.

I liked them all, but my starter would be cindaquil because of its last evolution with cool looking fire on his neck.

If you mean best character, on the older games bulbasaur was the easiest starter pokemon. I just picked him because I like the older ones better.

Bulbasaur. Great against the early gym leaders so its easy to get ahead. plus it gains levels faster and evolves quicker than the others

cyndaquil is great because when it evolves into Typhlosion, you can teach it Thunder Punch to help you when you're fighting a water type pokemon.

Overall, all of the ruby/sapphire starters are goodThe gold/silver ones suck the most out of them allBulbasaur and charmander are good starters for red/blueBasically if you're going for the sweeper (fast speed and high damage), treeko and charmander are the bestIf you like the tanks (lots of hp and defence) then bulbasaur and mudkip are the way to go
