it all depends... by hoenn, the whole motif has been copied so much. i think kanto had best water, johto had best fire, and hoenn had best grass. i could be wrong of course.

I choose Mudkip because it can beat fire, although it can be beat by leaf. I still like Mudkip and Squirtle!

I choose Squirtle. He gets 2 HM moves, as opposed to Bulbasaurs 1, is resilient to the first 2 gyms, learns Ice Beam to effectively slaughter Lance, and slaughters the last 2 gyms. He is only in deep trouble in 2 gyms (Erika and Surge), whereas the other 2 suffer in more gyms. Bulbasaur suffers in Kogas gym, Blaines gym and Sabrinas gym, and charmander suffers in Brocks gym, mistys gym and Giovannis gym.

I would have to say Bulbasaur, or the grass ones in general, more so for pokemon red, blue, fire red, and leaf green. The advantage against the first two gym leaders greatly helps, and the fact that you get Venusaur at level 32. Also, there is no legendary pokemon with the same elements as Bulbasaur, which makes it different then the other elements.

I've always loved cindaquil. It's a pretty good fire pokemon and come on, we all love the mohawk when it evolves.

Mine, for each of the games, is always the water type. Because that water type can learn ice moves, water move (surf), and at times fighting moves. The only other one I really like is Torchic, just because it's a flying/fire type, and later a fighting/fire type.

Mine would either be Charmander or Mudkip. Why? Let's see. . . I turned into a Charmander in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon! Besides, he was my first Pokemon in my entire life! I would also choose Mudkip because it was my partner in Pokemon Dungeon and Mudkip has the fewest weaknesses after evolution. :lazy:

in my opinion there is no best starter it really matters on what you like. If you like a challange then you should start with a fire pokemon since they are the hardest to train considering most Pokemon games contain more rock, Water, and electric pokemon and considering they aren't weak to fire makes it harder to train fires. Then theres the grass types, which are extremely easy since, like i said earlier there are mostly Water and Rock types. Water are in the middle because they are enough of each pokemon to train them but their weaknesses are their faults.
