I bought it because all my friends had one and I didn't want to feel left out anymore. >.> I wanted to raise pokemon and duel on yugioh virtually too!! T-T I'm glad I bought it, cuz it's super fun.

I was amazed on the touch screen. I also wanted it because it could play my gameboy advance games, I was tired of buying batteries for my Gameboy.

my way to the DS was a bit of a journey, really. it took me a long time before i finally let the buzz convince me and got one. and how right the buzz turned out to be! the DS is the coolest console i have had in a long time. i waited forever before i bought my DS - i only bought it about three weeks ago (dec 2010). i loved the GBA SP. but it was so tiny that after a while of playing my fingers hurt and my hands cramped. that was a serious drawback of the SP. when the DS first came out i didn't see any reason why one would want two screens and thought that nintendo had seriously shot themselves in the foot with that thing... also the first DS was so bulky and ugly, that i didn't like it one bit. so i stayed away. at some point however, some of my siblings and even my dad bought the DSi and they all seemed to enjoy that console a lot (mostly kawashima and stuff like that). i was puzzled by that but still personally felt fairly indifferent towards the DS - i happily continued playing my SP instead...when the DSi XL came out i considered getting a DS for myself for the first time, because i thought it would be a worthy replacement/addition to my GBA SP, because of the more comfortable size for my hands and the backwards compatibility via the GBA cartridge slot. but alas! they ditched the GBA slot. so since the games i was excited about were all GBA titles, i decided against the DS again...then finally i started reading about some of the games and watched gameplay videos of phantom hourglass, new mario bros, and mario kart DS and i loved what i saw. that was the first time that i also became interested in the DS itself, not merely the DS as a GBA extension. then the SD cartridges came out (supercard and such) and that solved the missing-GBA-slot-problem, and finally the SNES emulator came, and that sold me. so i got the DSi XL, the supercard, and some original cartridges with worthy DS titles (new super mario bros and kart, zelda), and started delving into the DS world myself, and what can i say - it is a brilliant console with some very good games, and thanks to the supercard, it is backwards compatible as well, enabling me to replay some of my classic favorites from the SNES and GBA. it couldn't be any better... ... or could it??? (hint -> 3DS...!)

The GBA was dying and I was too much of a Nintendo fanboy to get a PSP.I'm pretty sure there was one specific game I wanted at the time, but I don't remember what it was...

I bought mine way back when the DS Lite first came out. I just won a gift card in a raffle for $100 so I figured I might as well buy a DS for $20. It seemed like a good deal to me at the time.

From appearence alone it seemed out-do the GBA, which, alone, compelled me to buy it.

I bought DS for one simple reason, the fact it is a handheld. I already have a pretty new computer so I don't need a console with it. DS can fill in on the boring times like for instance free periods. The fact that it was on sale because of 3DS was a huge plus. And the flashcards of course. :)

My little sis bought it, after a long debate with me because I want PSP instead of DS...But after playing the DS for a short time, my little sis got bored and turned it away. So I played it and was addicted to it till now = w =

Actually, mine was bought for me for Christmas... but I had wanted one for ages. The reason being was that I had never had a portable console before, and with some new games out that I had wanted at the time, I thought it'd be a good idea to invest... and so thus convinced the parents. Since then, my DS has become pretty much one of my most prized possessions. :D

Because I love the Nintendo platform. When I play Nintendo DSi, it gives me the feeling of my early childhood times when I played a lot of Nintendo games.

I originally bought the DS as a substitute for the PSP, then I bought the PSP, so I could play both ways. I love Nintendo's handhelds, and remakes on PSP. Of course, I have neither of them anymore, and that's why I have DGEmu.
