Well, I used to like CS, but then it gets boring because there are many changes being made fast enough. Thats just my opinion.

Most people could download it for free, and you can easily set up servers and have tournaments with friends or such. But I have to agree, a lot of new FPS are good too.

It's a good game, I think there are better games out there for PC that are overlooked, but this one is alright for being online.

Mindless violence does wonders to young, naive little boys. It also doesn't require any skill at all to play. It's just aim and click.

CS has low requirements, good balance, fast gameplay, and pretty much everything you need to have fun! (good anti-hack system on Steam too)

Counter Strike is one of the most idiocy inducing games to be played by the online community. I was once a hardcore 7 hours a day minimum CS addict, i perfected the art of using the magnum without removing the crosshair, perfected my head shot ability, then i realized one day that, in the middle of all that CS i forgot to actually have a life :/CS is just that, its so addictive once you become pseudo good in it that you just cant stop playing after a few rounds. Since it has no structure (unless you're playing a tournament) it keeps you playing longer and longer till its 5 in the morning and you have to leave for college in like 1 hour. This is of course a tribute to the game, but once you realize there are much better games which are not such a time sap you'll probably switch too.. (took me 1.5 years before i realized though :/ )

first of all... its quite realistic game play... the program is not very big or demanding so won't lag so much, the loading is fast... and per round the game is very short... so anyone could play anytime...

I think because it is so simple yet so complicated kind of like chess. There is almost no learning curve to get the controls down, but to become good it takes a while.

And exactly how is it "like a game of chess"? Last time I checked, Chess wasn't merely about aiming and clicking. No, my friend, Counterstrike is not like Chess. The only things you need to master to play Counterstrike well are the keys and the guns. Otherwise it's just a matter of point and click.

It was one of the first tactical shooters to come out at the time. Most shooters were like Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament- which as you know were very surrealistic and extremely absurd. (Though fun. lol.) It was also one of the first mods for the epic game Half-Life to be sold retail by Valve (the other being Day of Defeat), which eventually lead to it's worldwide success.Sure the community may be filled with ignorant losers and so called '1337's, but once you find a good server you can just play for hours on end.

Its newbie friendly, yet hardcore geared. At the time, it was more or less the only option. The CS community has practically engraved the idea that the game is the "best" there is. Why aren't other MMOFPSs as popular? The CS mentality ("CS is for the leet!"), pricing (its more or less free now) and more or less ignorance. (Between each version 1.0>1.1>1.2>etc the game usually changes dramatically and the majority of players started at 1.5 so they didn't see the bulk of the game's flaws. 1.0 was released in 1999, 1.5 was released in 2001 and 1.6 was released in 2003; to give you an idea of how fast things changed initially.)

This is a game that takes skill to play unlike some losers that think they got skill in WoW because they can sit in front of a computer all day and level. So many people enjoy counterstrike for this fact. SKILL is needed to be good at this game.

nahh.... counterstrike sucks... the game is boring.... I used to play it cause there were lots of cheats you could use... kids are still playing the game here in our country because it's free compared to MMORPGs (load time)... also, it involves killing so the little boys like it...
