CS has always been, as far as I know, a fall boarding school game. Every fall, boarding schools play CS for no apparent reason. It's a phase I've seen each year. It is quite fun to play with friends and it is a good way to bond with people around your school, assuming you know who you are playing with. Surprisingly, no girls ever play CS. It's quite the conundrum. Can anyone here answer this for me?

counter strike is really popular because the gameplay and and the shooting is really kool and u can play it with all ur fwends =P

You forgot that its easy to hack too, and like most popular FPS theres going to be a big hacker community tagging along. 'cause it was the forerunner of online fps games, there were ones before it, but none as good as counter strike.

I never liked it. I played it at computer cafes for a few weeks because my friends were hugely into it but I never saw what the big deal was.

CS is perhaps the most realistic of all FPS games. it not only takes skill to play but also requires a calm mind (most of the time)its unlike other FPS where you can just get a gun and spray and praythere are also some great mods for CS that makes the usual rounds more interesting, such as the WC3 mod

Counter strike is so popular because it is a wonderful first person shooting game. There is no better one out there, but I hear Warrock is pretty good for free.

i think because it was a very simple to play.... just walk....kill everyone you saw(expect ur teammate 
)and there has a LOT MAP for CSbut i'm prefer BF2 for a better graphic and gameplay
