i like them since they discipline people so that they would follow the lawI'm o.k. with them, but I'm tired of how everytime I walk around a cop he or she stares at me like I'm doing someting wrong. Especially when they're talking, the eyes move around staring at you.
do you hate or like cops?

I've got mixed opinions. There are some good cops who truly believe in keeping the world safe and providing help for those in tough situations. I remember my tire blew out when I was driving once and swerved out of control and almost crashed. A police man nearby helped me and called insurance, and stayed with me while I was still shaken up and he even talked to me about a restaurant down the street to take my mind off of the experience.
But then there are some bad cops who are on a power trip and they think they can talk down to people and act as if they're the top dogs of the world. Last year, a guy living across from me was suspected of having committed a drug related crime and at 4 in the morning, with people sleeping in our neighborhood, the policeman came down blasting his siren and used an intercom thingy and called the guy out of his house which woke everyone up. When the guy came out, the police literally pounced on him immediately, crushed him to the ground and cuffed him and threw him into the backseat. His dog came out barking and one of the dudes kicked the dog! My jaw literally dropped.
It turned out my neighbor was mistaken for another guy (big surprise). It wasn't the police's fault that they were mistaken, but they didn't have to show up on our street making such a ruckus and publicly humiliating my neighbor. They could have taken care of the situation quietly and respectfully.
That's why I don't really like most cops. I can tell when they think they're all that and a bag of chips, but there are truly some cops that work to better the streets and make it safe for anyone.
Not to sound sexist or start a gender war or anything, but in my experiences with cops, I've noticed the egotistic, power tripping ones are mostly males.

Depends on several factors.
Are they Law Enforcement Officers, or are they Peace Officers? Do they obey the laws they enforce, or do they use their supposed authority to take advantage of others?
US cops are becoming increasingly militarized, and are closer to Nazi SS soldiers than actual peace officers, especially in major cities.
The cops in my area have nothing to do all day since there's almost zero crime, so half of them hassle people over trivial bullshit, such as going 5mph over the speed limit. They're still better than the NYC cops, by several orders of magnitude.

i don't hate cops, but i don't particularly like them. Like this one time a cop came up and harrassed my friends and I because we were sitting at the park taking a smoke break. ![]()

Both dislike/like. I like them because of the job they do to arrest certain people that are dangerous even if it's something as simple as a speeder to something insane like a serial murderer. I dislike them, when they are corrupt(some are), or pull people over for the littlest of things just because they can.

I only don't have a problem with the cops by me because they don't bother me at all. I've only ever been pulled over once by the cops in my car, and that was because my friend and I were blasting Barry White while clapping our hands in unison to the song while stopped at a RED LIGHT. The officer tried to say he pulled me over for speeding, but when he came up to my car he commented on how we were really "rocking out" to the CD... Other than that I am a 23 year old on the road driving an older full metal car and the cops never pull me over for looking suspicious or menacing so I don't have a problem with them so far. But if I get pulled over again for something frivolous and stupid again, I might be inclined to change my opinion.

I hate when the cops just pull people over because they're bored. I live in NY on Long Island and I'm in Suffolk County. Basically the way it works by me is if you live in Suffolk and don't need to be in Nassau County around the end of the month for anything at all, then STAY AWAY. The Nassau county cops seriously just find any reason to hassle you for ANYTHING. It's funny because when you're driving down Rte. 109 doing about 60mph and you hit the sign signifying that you're in Nassau, you slow down right quick or else!

I wouldn't say I hate cops but I do usually feel very scrutinized and uncomfortable around them. It would be more accurate to say that I "hate" some of the laws they are sworn to uphold, It would be fair to say I "hate" the excess of power they have and the capacity some officers have to be cruel (or at least jerks) and abuse that power.
I won't go on too long but I'll just say that I think most cops, like most people, are good. I think it's the system they are a part of that need some serious changes.
death doesn't just border on insanity, it
wallows in it.

Imagine life without them, there would be so many gross rape cases and all that like the big scandal that happened recently. Maybe it's all their scares and incessant walking around that deters all these (sick minded) people who want to eat tofu. (if you get what i mean)
