Not quite a video game hero, but...SEGATA SANSHIRO, Japan's mascot for the Sega Saturn.He's a man who would beat up people for not playing the Sega Saturn.He has a spiffy theme song.He also has the greatest Bomberman commercial ever devised.

In my opinion, Link. In all of his adventures he goes around helping everyone for no aparent reason and he recives random things in exchange. (NPCs sometimes says what they'll give you "something good")That random help sure must put him in the first place, but he still got some bad points.for example, have you ever noticed that Link enters peoples houses, break everything he can and then take all the money he can find but the people doesn't notice? (maybe they're afraid, I would be afraid y a totally random guy apears with a sword and starts beaking everything)
