Its going strong. With Dirge ofCerberus and Advent Children, I smell a series of sequels from all of the games.

Yeah, despite being a major fan about final fantasy, I have to admit that it's pretty much at the top of the mountain now. And it can only go down. Maybe the occasional remake may spice things up a little, but I think the producers should come up with something else now. Maybe a new series that incorporates some elements from FF, but is still different. Maybe "The Really Last Final Fantasy."

The FF series has been going downhill since its hayday on the SNES and PSX. IV, V, and VI are three of the most classic and legendary RPGs of all time, they're all must plays IMO. FFVII was phenominal, FFTactics was f'n amazing, FFVIII was different but I still thoroughly enjoyed and replayed many times. Once they delivered FFIX though, man the games have gotten gay. They just don't have the epic coolness the other ones have. They just seem cheesy. It's like once VII hit it big in America and gave the series a massive base of fanboys they don't really feel the need to try anymore. That's the way most good game series go downhill. They get popular, ppl start buying them left and right, and the games lose their innovativeness and get gimmicky. It's the sad truth of gaming.

I do agree that some of the games are not as good as the others, and as they get more into the story for each game, it looks like upcomming games will be focused around a romance between two characters. I need a game like FF7 where the story is more of an action then romance...

No, he doesn't die. It makes you think Squall dies at the end but if you watch past the credits he's reunited with Rhinoa at the Garden and all is happy yada yada

Little of both, actually. It's kind of getting worse with more features.

It was strong, until they made FF7 Dirge of Cerberus, it made the name of Final Fantasy bad. Even though the main character is Vincent.

I liked the snes ffs quite a bit. Had a classical feel to it.ff7 was completely overrated. The story was amusing at the time but now it's just annoying. ff8 was fun and actually amusing to me. I don't know why but it was just fun for me. ff9 was ok, it was just a tad boring. ff10 was fun and I enjoyed it. Much more lighthearted than the other ffs. ff10-2 is feces. ff11 and ff12... well... I haven't played them. I might like ff12 but doesnt look that exciting. So to some extent yes I believe that the franchise is falling.
