well I have a laptop, and its fine for me, cause I can take it to school, and it has Wireless Lan (at my school they have 1mb connection :shiftyninja:)but if you dont need it for school, I recomend a pc, because theyre cheaper, oh and try to check the new models of VAIO because they have the new screen "Xbrite".but if you wanna get a laptop TOSHIBA is your best choice :sniper:

Don't bother with Vaio, they're overpriced pieces of crap.Find a nice Acer model, post the specs here and then change out what we tell you. Basially, budget 100 bones below what you have, buy an ACER, then upgrade what we tell you to. You'll end up with a fairly decent machine. MOst likely there wont be enough ram and the GFX might have been skimped on a little, but it'll run fine and wont overheat. (Unlike many Vaios I've seen. Sony need to redesign the vaio cases like a heart attack.)Quick edit: Ooops, stupid me forgot to answer the OP.If you don't already NEED the portability, you never will. laptops are only a good purchase if the portable functionality they offer is the main consideration. Unless you NEED to move a PC from place to place frequently, a laptop is not for you, buy a desktop instead. If you do need to buy a laptop, go for the Toshibas, they're good. Since you had to ask though, you probably don't need a laptop, in which case a desktop will offer much more power for the same price.

Now since technology is getting better.. i would definitely say LAPTOP...it is on the pricey side, but who cares? I would much rather take it around and use it, than be limited to staying at home.

depends...extreme gaming - desktop PC (laptops tend to go hot faster than a desktop and the specs u need is a lot cheaper than the laptop counterparts)school work, brag, and if u have the bucks - laptop! buy alienware (if u really have the $$$).. or toshiba, acer, hp laptops...

not only is it hard to updrade a laptop but parts aare slightly more expensive. depending on the laptop some parts (like the video card for example) cant even be upgraded unless you get a high end model which usually runs about $1500, and you can get pretty much the same thing or even better on a desktop computer for about $900 if you know where to look. but if you go places a lot where you want to be able to use a computer a laptop is the best in mobility, and may be worth the extra $.

Is this coomputer going to move at least once? If yes, then you should get laptop. If not, then get a stationary. As for models, try Dell, they seem reliable.

:rofl:Dell reliable? Are you INSANE?Buy a gateway if you aren't going to build your own desktop, they're easily one of the best. Sabre PCs are quite good too.

VAIO's are terrible laptops. They're the G5 of laptops. Sleek, sexy, and nearly useless for being so underpowered and badly made.

^^^What he said.Preferably a regular ole PC is much better han alaptop.Easy to upgrade, easy to replace parts and is ;less expensive.Hell you cane ven make your own PC for less and being better than the standard you normally would buy.Laptops have few upgrades and are expensive to maintain.Acer is a good model though it isn' as good as you would want it, but it performs solidly and lags little. In anycase, just go for a 8--$ laptop if you absolutely need one.If you just want to get a PC then either make it yourself, or buy one for the same price as the laptop but better.>.>I sound like an idiot salesman don't I?
