not the best.. but one of the best.. they do receive credit for being the one and only game thats had twenty seven billion sequels and theyre mostly at least decent games, 
7 and 8 are the best ones ^.^

Ask not "Is Final Fantasy the best RPG series?", ask "If Final Fantasy is not the best, then which is?". I'd have to go with Crono Trigger/Chrono Cross as the best.

YES!!!! Breath of Fire 1 - 4 was also good, but since BOF 5 was out, i was very disappointed in regard of the graphics......if BOF 5 were to be better i would say then, that BOF would be the best.

Heck no. The best one is FF7 hands down! The reason why FF series are not the best RPGS is simply because there are far better RPGS with even greater storyline, characterization and of course plain fantasy elements, with no sci-fi futuristic crap.

No. I think that Chono Trigger was the best. That game was addicting.
Working on Knights in the Nightmare. Going to get around to Rondo of Swords. Hoping to find inspiration for Etrian.

depend on the game that you looking for!!!if you looking for grahics then find squareenix games...if you looking for storyline i think ff is not have a good storyline (after ffx)...sometimes i look games depend on my favorite composer...still nobuo have great pieces...

To some the ff series has some of the best rpgs but whether its the best hmmm its all on personal preference. To compete against ffx and ff7 the 2 best ff's, theres breath of fire, secret of mana series, WoW, GW, Deus Ex which is one of the best games ever made as a rpg/fps hybrid, star ocean, fallout series, everquest (and lots of other games).And dawn scythe if you hate futuristic sci-fi then you definately ain't gonna like ff13. Also i prefer ffx to ff7 for the simple erason is that i like the ffx battle system and upgrading system a lot more than the materia one. Both are mororless equal in terms of plot.

I'm all over FF, maybe its the story. It definitely deserves some props in the RPG category. FF7 did revolutionize the 3D RPG game world afterall.

FF is definetely a WELL KNOWN RPG, but the best? Nah... there are some that would rise above it... but I can't think of any right now... I guess it is based around the gamer's preferences.
