There are so manny good RPGs out there it is hard to choose. But for the GBA it would probably be fire emblem.

My favorite rpg for gba was sword of mana, but Dokopon monster hunter and Final fantasy are good too

Golden Sun: the Lost Age was my true favorite 
...though I rushed through the whole game just to see Lemuria...I was pissed that they made it so late game...they could've developed more plot by having it sooner. Though, the elemental rocks made me angry to play through a second time. Frustrating.
