of course! buy a ds. its like soooooo much fun.trus me. im a real nintendo fan, and the ds is a real break-through for nintendo.its got wi-fi and semi-online play.the games are reasonable on price (30-35 dollars)not like the PSP, where games are like 50.it doesnt need a memory stick and is more likely to get bought by the pesident XDso go ahead. BUY A DS AND JOIN THE REVOLUTION!!!!!! <_<

I highly recommend getting a DS. It's just a great new way of playing games. The PSP may have great graphics and play mp3 and movies, but if playing games is your thing DS is the way to go! <_<

i know this is kinda late <_< , or maybe someone already said this (no idea), Target sold the ds for only a 100 (plus tax...duh) on december. It was actually a price error and they accidently let the public know, so they HAD to sell it for a 100 for like a week. So i got my ds cheap :P ...or did any place sell it even cheaper?, beacuase i only live in california :P

The DS is great. This thread should be locked just for asking that question. (j/k) anyway yeas is backwards compatible if you had a gba and plus the games are alot better than the ones on the psp. They are original, unique and exclusive to the DS. ^^

The DS is defenitely worth it. For one it's pretty cheap if you compare it to the PSP plus it's unique with it's microphone and touch screen and also the games or atleast most of them are pretty cheap. Although i'm still waiting for some better games to come out!

Defintely get one. Gameplay is it's real strength. Much more creative than the PSP, which is basically a handheld PS2. The title's for the DS are far more creative even if they don't look as good as the PSP.The touchscreen and microphone allow for way more flexibility for the programmers to come up with new ways of playing games....for eg...Warioware Touched, Pac-Pix, Trauma Center, Lost in Blue, Elektroplankton, Kirby Canvas Curse...the list goes on and on.

i depends on what you like really, i own a psp, and i wont mind having a ds, because of its nintendogs! :D:DMESSAGE TO EVERYONE: Look, this guy is just asking if the ds is worth buying for, and you guys just HAVE to either bash the psp or the ds, in my opinion they're both great, if dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all, i think there should be a thread for psp/ds bashing, im getting sooo annoyed at people replying to threads like, "Hey guys i bought a psp/ds today!" and you guys reply with, "psp sucks! you lamer get ds!" or "DS sucks! get psp you dork!" I would just like to request it to STOP!

Definitly! I bought mine on the day it came out - it was the last one. Kind of bummed the price went down so fast & I didn't wait to get the cute pink Nintendogs set, but ah well. Looks are only looks! I can't wait for the new Metroid, RE, Mario, & a bunch of others. It's my most played console right now from Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. :P

Get a PSP with PS2 graphics rather than bitty N64 graphics, and with a PSP you can go on the internet, listen to music, watch DVDs and some other crap.

And pay a hell of a lot more money. This isn't the "Sony fanboys come and bash the DS topic", piss off.If you don't care about the redesigned version then I would wait until it comes out. Then you can buy an original DS after it has had a massive price drop.

I was thinking about upgrading to a Nintendo DS, and I was just wondering if it would be worth purchasing, like the game list. Is it extensive enough at the moment to truly be worth the while?

Take a look at the games out and the upcoming release list and see if you can get your money's worth. Personally, I have been playing my DS more than any system I have ever had and I'm 20 years old. Mario Kart is awesome; Yugi Oh is good if you like the card game; Mario and Luigi is solid; Animal Crossing is fun; and Advance Wars is a great game; and Castlevania kicks donkey. There are also some great games coming out and for $150 with a game its a good deal right now. So if you like any of these games or anything on the release list, pick one up.

It is worth buying. Psp only has some extra features that the ds is not capable of doing.Theres gonna be great games that are coming out like resident evil, metroid prime ETC.you could listen to music on your ds you just need to buy a nintendo ds flashcard(100$-200$) but trust me when i say its worth it.you could borrow somebodys nintendo ds game and actually copy it, so you have the game free. and you could first record the music and save it as a gba file and you have music.
