I for one love to play almost all sports games. I can see though why others might not. If you happen to be good at one sport, you might not play that one on a console for the simple fact that you can play the real thing. Other people (read...hard-core gamers) argue, and justifiably so, that there is not much more you can do that is fun once you have mastered the game play and are beating teams on the hardest settings with ease. There's no more challenge. Another thing that throws some people off, me included, is the unlikelihood of total completion. Some of the requirements are ridiculous along with the sheer number of them. Take baseball for example, I know that it has been done in real life, but, throwing 2 no-hitters is consecutive starts for one pitcher is virtually impossible. Doing it in 2 consecutive team games by 2 different pitchers is even harder. How can you complete a game with these requirements? By the time you even get close there is another game or system available that has more to offer.

I like all sports games and play very well at most of them but the problem is that they get tiresome quickly if all you play is the computer its always the same win or lose with action and rpgs theres always someone or something new to defeat not just a ball or puck or hoop

I like some sports games but I don't like the others because they don't add anything new or exciting. Thats why I liked NBA Jam,NBA Street Vol.2 and NFL Blitz 2000

Well if you're a fan of sports like myself, you enjoy the new rosters with new people. And there's always some new addition to what you can do in the games. Madden08 is WAY different than Madden 2002

-shrugs-It could be psychological. A lot of people who play obsessivly with video games aren't exactly active and fit. They could be less interested in playing sports games if they don't like playing them in real life.I don't like playing them because I'm more of a brain-over-brawn gal myself. I prefer a book to running after a ball. Though I do like playing soccer. =]Plus, some people would rather not have to deal with: 'No you idiot! it's a, a, b, select to pass! Not a, b, a, a, select!'Lol.

i play videogames as much as the next guy, (onless the next guy is into world of warcraft) but i am also a fan of excercise, interacting with other human beings in a competitive setting, challenging oneself physically (and not just hand-eye coordination) so it seems to me that playing a sports video game wastes the opportunity to do just that. go out and play catch with a friend instead of mlb 2008 or whatever.i just had a thought. if racing games are in the sporting game catergory then.... that is different. i suppose it's because, let's be realistic here, no matter how much i want to i will probably never be able to get behind the wheel of a saleen s7 short of commiting grand theft auto. even then i'd have to find one first.
