I like real time strategy games like Age of Empires. You really have to be good at managing your time and making efficient moves.

Medieval: Total War was the absolute funnest strategy game I've had the pleasure of playing. I tend to gravitate more toward turn-based games, though they tend to lack action. Medieval's campaign mode, however, combined turn-based Europeon warfare with tactical battles you had the option of commanding. The grouping of your units in these battles is a stroke of genius that allows you create sweeping epic battle befitting of your grand design in conquering nations. While Rome and Shogun were great in their own rights, Medieval seemed to have the most perfectly designed engine and interface.I understand there is also a sequel being developed to Medieval using the Rome engine. The screenshots on the official site were mind-jarring, but the trailer that premiered at E3 instantly sold me on the game. Thousands of troops now have individually scripted movement, which creates the illusion of the most perfectly rendered battlefield I've ever seen in a video game.

I also enjoy the "tycoon" variety because you can build and then sit back and watch your business run itself (with some micromanaging help from you, of course http://www.dgemu.com...tyle_emoticons/default/naughty.gif)

I enjoy RTS games that have the ability to progress through ages... something about scientific development and economic improvement makes it great.A great example of this can be seen in Rise of Nations (being followed-up by Rise of Legends). Its unqiue resource gathering system and multiple age to progress through made that game last forever being played over my private network.

Well I love the rpg/strategy mix of fire emblem, but I was raise on C&C, civ games are a lot of fun but very difficult but my favorite would have to be Dracula, a really old strategy game that has nothing to do with vampires, it unknown really, but it was a cool game in its time
