If the title of this thread had been "more violence in games," what would the answers have been? Manhunt and Postal had to go pretty far to get any attention, but a little bit of nudity or sex, even when locked deep in the code, is enough to incite a media uproar. If the Hot Coffee mod had allowed you to slowly drip boiling coffee over another character's face to the accompaniment of a laugh track, who would have cared?I don't think there needs to be more sex in games, if only because the treatment is usually astoundingly stupid. But let's try a thought experiment:Suppose somebody released Hooker, the prostitute simulator. In this game, you would try to survive a depressing life in prostitution, hoping someday to "get out of the business." You could try to work in a legal brothel, but would face infighting and backstabbing from your coworkers. On the other hand, if you worked for a street pimp, you could be beaten or even killed - off-screen, to avoid selling the game on brutality. Eventually, you could try to become a police informer, and end up in one side of a gang war, or get tight with a gang boss, which would put you on the other side. The best ending would be far from happy, but you'd survive and have a chance to piece your life back together. Now, would this game incite a media uproar? Oh, yes it would. It wouldn't matter how depressingly honest it was, how careful it was to avoid letting the player vicariously enjoy any violence being inflicted, or how meaningless and unpleasant the sex was portrayed as being. It would still have lots of sex scenes, and an adults-only rating - not a Mature rating, because parents can't be trusted not to buy their kids a game called Hooker - but an adults-only rating. And there would possibly be lawsuits, too.

I think you could compare it to sex in a movie. Sex in a movie occasionally helps with the story but more often than not it just puts me in a wierd place after all some movie have it basically be porn on the screen. It's not appealing because i'm in public haha! In terms of videogames if it's done stylishly but i think it shouldn't be in there. I just don't think it's right because you'll eventually realize that your alone in your room or playing with friends but you watching a sex scene. Just wierd ya know?

there should be less because it encourages young teens to have sex under age. This means half of them don't understand the consequences.

It all depend on the story . Would it be a good thing , dunno . would it be a bad thing , dunno . The only thing thats certain , is that you need to be open minded for this kind of stuff and judge it with your own head . Good or bad , it depend on your point of view .

I don't think that sex should be allowed in more games it acts like pornographic movies and sites. Many children may buy games like that and become addicted to it like drugs and alcohol, and end up ruining their lives to statisfy their psychological addicited need. Also, it defeats the purpose of what a game should be.

A bit of sex in a game isn't a problem for me, as long as it's not the main theme. well for now that is.Pradana

i think its at a maximum i think there great easter eggs like in god of war and god of war2 also gta earning them an AO (not sure of GOW)by the ESRB witch is only a non-profit, self-regulatory body and the group cannot force age.....cant think of a word... but if the parents are with the children i think theyll get a big fat NO so if they can keep a 10 sec scene or whatever of sex or nudity out of a game to get a lower esrb rating i think they should keep sexual conduct out of games well i dont really care anymore caus3 i'm 18 now so yeah but....stores do enforce the age witch is like GRRRRR!!http://www.dgemu.com...icons/icon7.gif

JUST to see how all the nut groups and the silly media would (over)react, I'm all for it.Seriously, though, if it's plot-important, and not just a gimmick to drive up sales, no problem.

As long as the game is rated appropriately it isn't a problem. If parents don't educate themselves about what the ratings mean, and buy their kids an inappropriate game, then that is their problem.

I'd like to see it.1. The esrb put their AO rating on only 23 games, 2 of which you can find on shelves. I hate that 'online order' only crap, so we have to pay for their gas mileage.2. All those hentai games are only pictures, rarely animated sex, and no one walks around nude or is there any kind of interesting storyline. Plus, 90% of those games are the stupid, picture in background and choose what to say or go to next, with no animation. You also have to figure out which 1 out of 27 are actually in English. (downloading OR buying)3. Ninety-nine percent of those games are for the PC, I can't use them on this thing because of how buggy they are, whether it be incompatible with WinXP, the installation process doesn't make sense, I can't use it because it requires the 'latest' GFX card, the comp isn't fast enough, or the game just plainly sucks. Soon it will probably be Vista only. I found one of them that I liked, that's it.

It would really depend on the type of game, whether it fitted the story, characters and setting and how graphic it was. Hentai games are made with the intention to have sex with the characters, but in an RPG allusion (not illusion) would suit best. Don't get me wrong, if an RPG had sexual scenes in it I would play - as long as it was a good RPG or had a good reason for the sexual scenes. Then again, if it was input in a game series I like, it'd want to have to be there for a very good reason or else. >:[

Listen games are made to fulfill peoples fantasies or to give them something they cannot do or acheive in their lifeso if people want more sex in games they can have it. As for me i find that it is just a waste of time. So no i don't think that games should have more sex in it.

A game is a story being told, and like all stories, the creativity and freedom of speach shouldnt be compromized. If sexuality carries the story allong then theres no problem. But if its just there, then it makes the game feel cheezy.

I agree, if it doesn't aid in the plot it doesn't serve much of a purpose.
