No comment...Yes, so, a more accurate description of Shining Force is Fire Emblem, just with more sluggish gameplay and a more annoying interface, and Sega'd out graphics.Sword of Vermillion is a pretty decent Genesis RPG, but Phantasy Star is really it. Nintendo systems had much better RPG's. Especially if you're looking for the turn-based strategy games, like FE and Bahamut Lagoon.

Please do not mention Dragon "Warrior" or any Final Fantasy II or III for the SNES in my presence. And keep in mind the following chart(this is likeness of looks, not personality):

Tidus -- Cloud
Wakka -- Zell
Lulu -- Edea
Yuna -- a horrible sorry attempt at an Aeris/Terra thing, with a touch of Garnet.
Auron -- Vincent
Rikku -- Yuffie/Selphie
Kimahri -- a very un-sexy Nanaki

Also, please refrain from statements such as "I've never played x, so I'm going to say that y is better."

I'm an elitist and I'm proud of it. You should try talking to me about music.

The best ones are Shining Force 1 & 2, ALL Phantasy Star (the best one is PS4), Beyond Oasis and Landstalker.Yes, Nintendo consoles have more RPG than SEGA, but to mee is useless, once most Nintendo RPG's are in japanese language.

One old sega genesis game that was an rpg was Master of Monsters. If strategy/RPG type games are your thing, then go out and try to find a copy of this game. You won't be disappointed.

Go to http://www.rpgclassics.com. Look for the link that says Genesis shrines. It has a list of RPGs, which are also strategy guides.

I was not really into RPG's before the Dreamcast.I reccomend Grandia II for DC along with Shenmue and Phantasy Star Online. For XBOX Sega released Shenmue 2 and I also recommend Otogi and Otogi 2,If you own an XBOX i also recommend Sudeki, Morrowind, Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2, Jade Empire and Fable.

In respects to the Phantasy Star series, ya need to bear in mind that compared to today's standards they are slow and kinda unflashy, but think of the time period... early 90s, Genesis was selling out SNES 2-1 because of speed, not performance and then they made the PS2 & 3 games... the story was DEEP for PS3... although in fairness PS 2 CAn get monotonous... how many other RPGs do you get Sci-Fi style with Fantasy plot power? in comparison to todays games like Star Ocean, FFX , etc, they are bit dated, but thats why us classic gamers remember them fondly! :)

That Sonic Dark Chronicles game on DS turned out surprisingly well. I wish they had thought to do a Sonic RPG on Genesis like nintendo did with Mario on SNES.Also, Necro Bump :(

Beyond Oasis, is my favorite RPG for Sega, even if your not into the action style RPG's this one never gets old. I beat it again just the other day, and honestly, I want to play it again
