Nope. Mario will remain in the video game industry forever. Without him, our hobby would have never existed. Video games would have just been a fad. Thank goodness it isn't. Thank you, Mario, and keep up the good work!

Oh, god, Please retire him. I know there are alot of people who like mario alot. Well guess what, I DON'T! That's right, I DON'T LIKE MARIO! And nothing you can say will change my opinion on this. I am pretty sure I am alone on this opinion though.

NEVER!!!I got my first mario game when i got cancer, it helped me not to get down and i think it got me through. Now a lot of you probably think:"yeah right", but i don't give a **** about you guys.

I hope you're kidding. Mario has been their greatest success and still is, I doubt they will ever "retire" him.

Telling Nintendo to retire Mario is like telling Nintendo to stop making games and kill themselves.

I think alot of the mario franchise out there is rubbish and just milking the character for all he's worth. sure his mainstream games are good, and some of the spinoffs are good aswell but things like mario football, mario golf, mario numbers etc are just patented crap. I would enjoy seeing mario as less of a sellout, but at the same time i think hes an important aspect to nintendo's credibility. mario has more or less become their trademark and to stop now and try focussing on another mascot will not be well recieved. The next (or new) game for mario's successor would have to be something truly extraordinary and quite frankly i don't think nintendo are capable of successfully replacing mario. Its not really possible now, but at the height of pokemon's success they may well have been able to use pikachu as a new maskot. I suppose in the long run though that would have worked worse for nintendo. Pikachu's fame and popularity dried amongst a large portion of the gaming community a couple of years ago.

That is all just your opinion..Look at the future and not the Past becasue think about it -- All of the good games they have now -- What will they have a few years from now? GFX and gaming consoles are getting better everytime there is a new one. I say no, and for all of you who think it is crap, NO, its not, or atleast if there is a cruddy mario game, it will get better, as it is now Think about it.. From Smash Bros 64 - to - Smash Bros Melee - to -Smash Bros BrawlDoes it get better each time they make a new game?I think you know the answer to that.

do you think nintendo should stop making mario games and focus on making a new mascot? Another question would be what would that say about nintendos reputation?PS gotta leave will edit the thread to clarify my questions

No way. They gotta stay with Mario to some degree...Mario of course includes the entire Mario world and all the other characters.

Platformers can always stick around. They have very basic, fun and simple gameplay. Mario can last forever.

mario will always be cool, so there's no reason for anyone to get rid of him. i wouldnt mind if they made mario forever and just copied the original stuff. it's just the best
