I don't think Mario should ever be retired! Yeah, there's already a zillion Mario games out there already, but who cares--what's wrong with there being a zillion more? Mario is awesome, fun, unique, and known by millions of people as the world's biggest gaming mascot. Why would anyone want to get rid of him? And even if Nintendo DID stop making Mario games, he'd never actually retire--he'd still be played for years to come and remembered by everyone. I love Mario, and I'd never be able to just pretend he never existed.

mario will always be cool, so there's no reason for anyone to get rid of him. i wouldnt mind if they made mario forever and just copied the original stuff. it's just the best

I agree. As long as Mario's still in our games and in our hearts, he'll be around forever.

When Mario reitres from gaming, I retire from gaming. It would be completely stupid for them to make a different mascot, everyone loves mario and will continue to do so.

not they shouldnt move on and make a new mascot.. but the mario/metroid/zelda milking needs to stop.. because sadly those are the only things that are keeping nintendo up there.. which sales are declining... so it looks like becuase nintendo doesnt have real good variety they may b tanking in the near future

Now that I think back, Mario is kind of a terrible mascot. If he were to be pitched in a gaming meeting today, the idea would be thrown out immediately. A plumber as a gamer's hero? I suppose its bizarre in a good way. He lasted far longer than he should have, but I can't imagine Nintendo without him.

If they stopped Mario, then people would stop buying, he's been around for years. I mean, imagine taking Mickey Mouse away from Disney Land, Hmmm? Now do you see? XD

It seems like they've tried before, but everyone loves mario. They had luigi, then Wario, then Waluigi, etc. There's a whole roster full of Nintendo characters that are favorites, but nothing draws in a crowd like Mario.

No. They would never get rid of someone so popular. However, I myself plan to make games for Nintendo that are somewhat based on him, but without all those cliches we've all seen over the years.

I think they should make a true sequel to the Mario franchise. Galaxy looks interesting, but I they should the revisit Mushroom Kingdom in the way Mario 64 did. Can you imagine running around a huge Mushroom Kingdom?

Mario has been with Nintendo for a long time, he has "Seniority" :DMushroom kingdom could get a huge upgrade considering the amount of space you would be able give it on a disc. They could focus on the areas outside the castle this time too (not to mention a few renovations on the interior of the castle).

Myimoto has saed himself that he is going to make a new series of characters and stop working with Mario and his gang. Mario had a good career and his games will always be played and be remembered for its impact on gaming and innovation threw the years.
