I don't think they'll ever need another mascot. I don't think that Nintendo themselve are going to be in the console wars for very long though, the Wii might be the last or second to it.

Nah, Mario is a classic though it's not as popular as it was before; Mario has been there for ages and won't just die out outta nowhere.

No, Mario IS Nintendo. You can't imagine one without the other ya know? What they need to do though is to stop whoring him out to every game under the sun while the fans are left waiting for another REAL Mario game. (Smash Bros. is nt included in my rant as that is AWESOME!)

Never! Mario's awesome, and I don't see why Nintendo would ever dump him.

there's no need for a new mascot, but there's no need for a new mario game to..2D, 3D, he's still a mushroom-jumping-plumber...and that's what made him a legend.. dont ruin it..

Mario's getting old, face it. Nintendo has held on to that fateful little plumber for a long time. And, as much as we would hate it, Nintendo has to leave him sooner or later. Lets just hope its later. We had fun with him. He had fun with us. By the time Nintendo DOES get rid of him they'll have Mario Party 78.

A good example to take here would be Namco's 'Pac man' or Capcom's 'Megaman' franchise, they are classics that will most likely last forever and those of you who can't agree with that I can only assume are caught up in some RPG like Final Fantasy or Persona 3 >:

Exactly, if they were to remove Mario, they would have to remove Nintendo, its their icon. Mario is popular throughout kids, too. Most people who would say this are one of those, "Sony and Microsoft" Lovers who think all of the Nintendo games are dumb because there is no blood and violence, also. Meh.

I think mario is getting sort of old. Of course, he's a classic, and he's basically the Nintendo icon. The only thing I can say is, if Nintendo were to get rid of Mario, it would be really hard on the general public.

i think he does need to be at least kept to his own games, rather than taped onto anyhting nintendo decide to produce.REAL mario games + mario kart only would be perfect, forget all the tennis, soccer and golf BS.

As cool as it would be for another Mascot to his the scene it'll never happen. Too many people love Mario waaaay too much to be cool with a changing up of mascots. Just like if they were to drop Link, or Samus. It would be one of the first signs of the apocalypse.

Mario Kart has its own special friend code. Im not sure why you cant just link from your Wii address book, seems like that would make perfect sense.
