do you think nintendo should stop making mario games and focus on making a new mascot? Another question would be what would that say about nintendos reputation?PS gotta leave will edit the thread to clarify my questions

Nintendo has always had mario as their mascot, they shouldn't change it because thats like McDonolds changing their mascot (ronald mcdonold) and that would be crazy! :(

Unfortunetly I believe mario is long gone, it has ran a long way and will stick in many people's minds and hearts for a long time and will never be forgotten, but the brand name has gotten old. We have to conform of die unfortunetly... Game companies make games for just money not entertainment anymore, but that's what the world is like today *sigh* guess we'll just have to deal with it.

I guess the problem with Mario games today is the lack of respect the creators have for the Brand's name

If they remove mario, they will lose an exceptional mascot! The decision to change character is not light because they will have a new face and all the story of this company would disapear. it would begin again even! Mario is Nintendo and Nintendo is mario

I don't think that Mario needs to be retired. There's nothing wrong with the character. Nintendo just needs to stop putting him in all kinds of nonsense games and focus on making "real" Mario games.

I say no cause Mario's an old time favorite in the nintendo entertainment system and he can't retire because he's a great creation and famous char to nintendo. He deserves to stay. :doom:

Mario is and probably will always be the face of Nintendo. However I think they should retire him in games since it's getting kind of repetitive and their really just taking old games and tacking "Mario's..." to the front of it :santa:

they need to add extra "oomph" to the mario series. most of the games they release are mostly the same nostalgic gameplay, and i personally think its losing its influence doing so. It needs to up the ante. also, luigi is too underrated for the whole of it. we need another game with luigi at centre stage!

Well although mario is old is old people still like him and buy his games. And if they got rid of him then nintendo wouldnt really have any other mascot beside zelda or metroid and also who knows if they could find someone that could replace mario that has such a long history in nintendo

Definately No, Mario is Nintendo's most well-known character, and getting rid of him is going to be the end of Nintendo. If it EVER happens, Playstation will be my new favorite. But I know and trust that Nintendo will not get rid of Mario, he will be around for years to come, always with a new and more epic adventure.

Kind of, but its always good to come out with more. Every age group deserves to have the experience that we had as youth. Kids need these games (as odd as that sounds). Games are what made my childhood, I wouldn't want others to miss out.

I think it would be wise to retire Mario, they done everything they can do with him so now it's time to get creative and make some original games!

No, I don't think they should get rid of Mario. A lot of people love Mario. Hell, Mario's probably more popular than Micky Mouse. And Nintendo wouldn't retire Mario for any reason right now also because Mario is the number one gaming franchise.
