Yeah I would definately have to give it to Silent Hill (As a series). Alone in the dark was just creepy beyond belief but no so 'BOO!' scary.Plus Silent Hill had pyramid head which in truth was mad creepy. On SO many levels.

Fatal Frame is pretty creepy to play .Scary for most but older people might only find it scary if there alone at night playing with the lights off.

Silent Hill 2 Without a doubt. Walking around in a pitchblack apartment building with nothing but a crowbar and a pistol playing in the middle of the night with a bigass tv and surround sound all the lights off and when your radio starts to get static you know something scary as hell is coming your way. And when you first meet Pyramid head... SPOOKY

Silent Hill 2 was scary, I used to play it in the dark, and pyramid head is the craziest monster ever ;)Resident Evil 4 was also pretty scary during the castle scenes, and the regenerators of course.

Both Fatal Frame and Silent Hill were series that got to me but not as much as F.E.A.R

my freind had that silent hill version with the shaking controller...that crap was scary as hell...the radio made it worse...it was all*shake shake*shshasaasshhhhaaaaa <-radiome: "ah wtf is gonna come out of the fog and maw my face this time"*walk*me: "AH GOD NO CRAZY BAT THINGS GET OFF GHET OFF NO DOGS WITH MELTING SKIN NO AHH"*run*:/man that game was scary...

Scariest game ever i have to say all the Resident evil games just the other night i was playing RE: Code Veronica X cause it been like 3 years since i last played it and i was all bugfged out at like 3 in the morning cause of it i scared myself when i went to the restroom and turned the lights on and look at the mirror and srceamed like a girl when i saw my reflection.

Okay before I cause a riot. It's not as much scary as it is freaky. In The Suffering there is the electric chamber viewing room. When you look in the security cameras and cycle through the rooms you see the room your in. Now you also see something sneaking up on you but when you exit the view there is nothing there. When I first did that I came out of the view guns blazing and then realized i was shooting at nothing.

Scary..... Fatal Frame was hell scary. Silent Hill scared me as well. Siren is pretty scary. Resident Evil was just shocking. LOL Doom 3 was awesome! Had action mixed with jumping back! F.E.A.R. was CRAP!

I haven't played very many horror type games, but I think resident evil 4. Man, if you play that game in the dark with girls in the same room...0.0 five words:chainsaw from behind, slow reloading.

Fatal Frame Crimson Butterfly, hands down. Played it at night alone with a grandfather clock.. I almost got a heart attack when it chimed and I was playing.

haven't played fatal frame...but i'd go for silent hill. it wasn't action packed and resident evil. but the kind of scare that SH gives is the type that stays with you. environments... the music... the fog... the voices...brrr...

The Silent Hill series plays on that psychological sense of fear many games just ignore. You fear what isn't there more than what really is.

Silent Hill 1. To tell you the truth, I first thought that it was like a Metal Gear game. You can't possibly imagine the shock and terror I went through when I was running for my life in the part where you first encounter enemies.
