That could be a possible plot, if they wanted to go that route, but then again, there were technically 2 other endings, so knowing capcom, they might just make some new wacky thing up, which i hope so, cause i personaly like X8, and especially cause i got it for like 13 bucks.

You have to consider, the originals had 8 games, maybe X will follow. Then again, if the series is good, they may continue. Personally, I think they will continue.

MEGAMAN YAY, well if you think of it, theres ALOT of games with never ending series, for example Mario PArty 7 ( or w/e ) , ALL the Tony Hawk Series... so why not hope for Megaman? megaman is better then all of them so let capcom make 9th game of megama YAY

I dont think they will make another X game. But i hope they continue the Megaman Zero series even though part 4 wasnt as good as the other 3 story wise. But I think the Zero series is the best so far.

If you think about it hypothetically, you can see how the story works out.X9 will probably have Zero and X as playable characters and Axel playable for the first level. He will then turn to the dark side (no pun intended) and corrupt several Maverick Hunters into Mavericks themselves. These will have the same gene that turns them into Animal related enemies like the others do. (Glacier Wolf anyone?! 
)During the course of the game, I think we find out more about Lumine's origins. I also have a theory about Lumine himself (or is it she, its hard to tell). I reckon that because Sigma was so easily destroyed in X8, that it wasn't the real Sigma inside. Sigma has taken many incarnations, but never really strayed from the Bald Guy physique. Maybe he was secretly transfered into a new sleeker form, while still maintaining control over the old body. It had to be disposed of, but instead of throwing it away, Lumine decided to have it as a minion.Perhaps I'm reading too much into this, but I'd like to think Sigma wasn't totally dead and Axel (by far the most annoying character in the Megaman series and i mean all of them!)

i think there will be MegamanX9 but the title would be different...thats what i thought since the original Megaman series had 8...and the Megaman 9 was actually a different title and wasnt a sequel for Megaman 8 but the gameplay itself(i mean the disk you collect has all datas incuding Megaman 8 bosses)...
