Okay, I'm getting seriously tired of people saying Digimon ripped off Pokemon. Class is in session, and I'm about to school you...Pokemon's premise, as previously stated, is much different than that of Digimon's. Pokemon starts off as Ash dreaming about being the pokemon master. He wants to catch'em all. But like an idiot, he wakes up too late to get his Pokemon. However, Prof. Oak makes an exception and gives him Pikachu. Ash has to earn Pikachu's trust and eventually tames it to friendship.Now, let's go to the beginning of Digimon. In order to go to the true beginning, I'd have to take the first part of the movie, but I'll start with the first season. A bunch of kids end up at the same summer camp and are thrown into an alternate dimension. There, they run into these talking monsters, and naturally are freaked out by them.Flash forward, middle of both seasons. Ash already has gotten the three starting pokemon now (charmander, bulbasaur, squirtle) and has travelling companions. What is he doing? Same thing he was trying to do in the first episode...become the Pokemon master and catch'em all. All of the Digidestined have gotten their Digimon to the Champion level by now. Tai wants to take them further, and tries to force Agumon to become an Ultimate level. Agumon ends up digivolving to Skullgreymon, an evil digimon. This scars Tai, and he promises never to do that again.Digimon wasn't a ripoff of Pokemon. Some of you seriously need to learn what a ripoff is. You really want to see a ripoff? Watch Bobo Bo Bobobo. I liked Digimon (at least the first season), because you can digivolve them in more ways than one (depending on your build), plus they can degenerate to their previous state. Pokemons don't have much of an evolution chart, they're stuck to one line.But as for storyline, I liked Pokemon a little bit more than Digimon. At least, after the first two seasons. Plus, pokemon's target was more of a young audience (not much death and violence) than Digimon.I liked Digimon 1's gameplay better, being less repetitive and a bit more interactive. :clapping:Well, that's my opinion.

Pokemon's just a big franchise. earning billions by creating loads of episodes with the same storyline except- moregyms- more pokemon =.=-new enemies pretty monotonous if you ask me.digimon however has a different plot every series and of course the sizes of digimon would totally pwn the pint sized pokemon!

Digimon has more of a storyline than pokemon. Pokemon's just the same thing over again, sure it's a great idea and the games are better. If there's a pokemon MMORPG I'll join it for sure. But they didn't really take it anywhere. Digimon has more of a plot in it. The first season's probably the best, plot wise. They had a lot of things in it that makes a great series. From the fourth season on, it's sorta weird, and I've stoppoed watching.But my vote's on digimon.

I honestly think Digimon's way better, well the first 2 seasons were, unlike pokemon, you had 1 partner, 1 best friend you'll be with forever, whereas in pokemon you say you're best friends but you have like 50 different ones and you end up abandoning some of them -.- but after the 2nd season, it just got stupid, i mean seriously using cards to power up a digimon? -.-

Anyone who hated the first four seasons of Digimon: Go watch Savers! The Fifth Season is the closest thing to being a Shonen Anime, and it does a damn good job of covering what the last four didn't accomplish (a more mature story, even beating down Tamers and Frontier; cool characters; new, better digimon >.>).Also, to add to what Trancebam had to say, in order for something to be a rip-off of something, then the "Rip-off" has to come out after the other series, right?Well, Digimon first appeared as V-Pets in Japan, before the Pokemon games even came into existence. Who's the rip-offs now, huh?As anyone could tell from that paragraph or so above, I'm an avid Digimon Anime fan. And co-incidentally, I also like the Pokemon games. But I hate... HATE... HATE the Pokemon anime! How long has Ash been 10 years old, people?! Move on to a new hero for god's sake!!!

Yeah I totaly agree with freexrider on this I prefer digimon coz' it has some way cooler monsters and somewhere in the series the people fight too.

I'm happy you like Digimon better, but there's something you need to understand. Of course you can power up a Digimon with a card...Digimon after all are only digital (which is what makes them more realistic in the first place). Take for example...the Pokemon E-Reader cards. You can put them into the E-reader and upgrade your pokemon (which is digital, which seems more like a digimon thing. If anyone's ripping stuff off, looks like it's pokemon). The digidestined have a new type of digivice that now reads cards, and the cards effect can be applied digitally to the digimon. Not only does it make the cardgame feel more like a digimon battle, but it also adds a whole new idea to the series. I personally didn't really like the fourth season...hybrid digivolution? It's like a cross between digimon and power rangers. I think they should've kept the digimon and the digidestined seperate. I really want to see the fifth season still. You know there are a lot of things that are very interesting about "Digimon Tamers", and this is one of them, plus you can add how the Devas take a role on the story and all because of Calumon, but I'll go one season back. One of the things I like of Digimon 02 was the new Digivolution alternatives like the Armor Evolution, because of the control spires that were built by the Digimon Emperor, but the one that I like most is the DNA Digivolution. The power of combine 2 Digimon and create one with more powee like Paildramon, that was the one who went beyond and Digivolved to Imperialdramon, one of my favorite Digimon, so what do you think about "Digimon 02"?
