If I had to choose between RE and SH, I would definitely pick Resident Evil (plot, characters, mood, ZOMBIES). But Silent Hill is also a very good series and deserves much attention from horror junkies.

Fatal Frame 2. It was nominated #1 for having the scariest scene in a game. People say if u can play this game in the dark ALONE without being scared, you're creepy!!!

I like Resident Evil coz I'm fighting with zombies/mutant, something that is real. While In Fatal Frame and Silent Hill, they just gave me a hard time sleeping at night...

Eternal Darkness for Gamecube is the creepiest game ever. The game even tries to convince you that your system crashes just to mess with you.

Clock tower imo i remember when i was 10 or something and i was playing that and all of a sudden you hear that sound of the evil guy coming thats a feeling that not too many horror games have managed to create

i got hell scared at ravenholm in half life 2, with all the shreikig fast headcrab zombies that u dont notice untill they're right behind you, belting you and screaming like helli also heard that return to castle wolfenstien was scary too...

Resident Evil 2 and 3 for Playstation were paticularly awsome!!! I loved the suspense and music before certain parts of the game- kept you guessing!!!

It has to be AvP. You have to play this game in normal settings for it to work at is fullest extent no brightening the screens. Well anyway first you have the alien, he can hid really well in the dark and everywhere in that game is dark. you never know when its going to pop out. there is no flashlight but there is flares. problem with them they don't last long and you have to throw them. And now the predator. only word needed for them is camo. just like the alien you never know when they are going to come out. I would have to agree that this is a very hard game if you don't play it well. You could die without even know what hit you. You always have to be alert in this game.

Imo, Resident Evil is the best horror game. I mean, it did inspire other games to be made like Silent Hill.

I've never really liked Resident Evil, from what I've seen of it, it's not the kind of horror that makes me afraid. I know it's supposed to be a really good series. I've also played through Silent Hill 3, which was more of what scares me and I also really enjoyed the storyline. I think the atmosphere of those games is just so creepy and that's what really gets me. I've also played Fatal Frame 2 (the crimson butterfly, I think) but due to a game disc error, I couldn't finish it. That was also a little creepy, the idea of little asian girls really scares me after the Ring and the countless other movies. Another game I really enjoyed was Eternal Darkness on the GC if that's the one where you go insane. It was really quirky, and watching myself "go insane" was kind of scary, but the one part that really got me was the bathroom scene.

For a true horror experience go for Silent hill. Any of them will do it, exept 4. The story will draw you in so much, you'll feel like your character!for a semi-horror experience go for Resident, it's more nonsensical puzzles, little to no story, enough to keep you exited style.For something totally awesome though look for fatal frame 2, it is pretty freaky, with a weird, but easy to get used to way to go through the game.Also Aquaman is a pretty scary game (scary bad anyways) I never thought a single game could be so bad.

The Fatal Frame series is by far the scariest game series I have ever played. None of the others (i.e., Resident Evil, Silent Hill, etc.) have ever actually made me jump out of my seat or give me shivers that last well after I have turned the game off.
