I think the only couples that can work for me is Kira/Lacus, Athrun/Cagalli and Syaoran/Sakura, because sometimes the other couples doesn't look too good together.

(Zeta Gundam fanboy worship imminent) I loved the relationship between Kamiru Bidan and Four Murasame, because it showed that, while Kamiru was an uber-whiny, uber-emo taco most of the time, he could feel love. If you watch Zeta, and really get into it, the way their romance ends will rip you apart inside. Poor Four.

Chidori Kaname and Sagara Sosuke had a pretty interesting relationship IMO. The one between Sabre and that Guy in Fate/Stay Night was pretty good too.

I have a couple of pairings, though my current favorite is Sabaku no Gaara and Hinata Hyuga from Naruto. I know its a very, very unlikely pairing, but that's what makes it fun. I also like Naruto Uzumaki with Sakura Haruno, Hinata Hyuga with Temari, Shikamaru Nara with Temari all three pairs from Naruto and Luke fon Fabre with Tear Grants from Tales of the Abyss. (Not an anime, but still)
