Discuss the game here !!Nintendo must really be pushing its new DS WiFi service on the development community, as publishers keep on announcing new compatible titles. While Sega's Bleach and Taito's Lost Magic were added to the network-compatible list a few weeks back, the latest Famitsu reveals that Marvelous Interactive's Rune Factory: New Harvest Moon will be joining them.Rune Factory's network mode seems to be somewhat limited. Players will be able to exchange messages with friends and open up a shop to sell items. There should be a few other network features beyond this, although we've heard nothing about actual cooperative play.In case you were absent at the announcement a few week's back, Rune Factory is a new take on the Harvest Moon series. Developed by the Neverland Company, the game includes the farming elements of a traditional Harvest Moon title, but adds battles and other RPG-like elements. You play as a young boy who was found unconscious in a town, having lost his memory. This boy is capable of a special magic called Arscode. He takes up land just outside town and begins building up his own farm.In typical Harvest Moon style, you'll have plenty of freedom with your farm and home. In addition to raising crops, you can add furniture and a custom floor plan to your home. Gameplay makes heavy use of the DS's touch pen, allowing players to fleece their sheep and pet animals directly.Communication with other characters play a big part in the game as well. You'll be able to take part in festivals and go out on dates. A young 16-year-old girl who takes up land outside of town seems to serve as a heroine role in Rune Factory. The biggest difference that Rune Factory has from other Harvest Moon titles is in its new RPG aspects. As you adventure over fields and through dungeons, you'll be able to collect materials that can be used to create new items, equipment and furniture. The game includes a real time action battle system where you equip skills and equipment to your character and face off against monsters, making use of magic spells that you cast with the touch pen. These monsters can be drafted to work on your farm.Clearly a different approach to the Harvest Moon formula -- hence the "New" Harvest Moon. Marvelous is planning a Japanese release for some time in 2006.

Wtf no way! This is HARVEST MOON? The game where you plant plants, water them, take care of animals, and attend to festivals. An addicting RPG where you act as a farmer is now going to have a battle system? That's just not right. The game includes a real time action battle system where you equip skills and equipment to your character and face off against monsters, making use of magic spells that you cast with the touch pen. These monsters can be drafted to work on your farm.

Not really. How many movies / games start out with a hero who lives a simple life and is thrown into conflict? Even ordinary farmer people can have epic adventures can't they?Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of the HM series?.....I mean it's a nice idea, but it seems really odd for a farming series to all of a sudden be an epic adventure....
