I really liked this game!Combining real time battle system with farming is not a bad idea after all...Besides, some of the monsters looks really cute.

Figured my first post on this thing was going to be Harvest Moon related..Rune Factory (1) was pretty good; however, I still prefer the traditional Harvest Moon games over Rune Factory so far (I collect them because I'm a nerd like that, and I love it).Rune Factory 1 was fun because of the fighting element - and I liked that you could befriend monsters (thought I never took them to fight with me... I felt too bad if they died.. even though they didn't really die, but went back to their huts). I used the monsters more for helping me with the chores of watering/harvesting, which was useful when you wanted to go power up your character in the caves. However, because it focuses so much on the fighting element (best part of the game), I felt like I got absorbed into that and neglected the harvest moon part of the game. I found that the festivals were a bit lame and it's very easy to lose focus on the farming and taking care of the animals. The townspeople weren't very interesting and I acutally stopped playing the game after I beat the dungeons/caves and fighting aspects of it because of it. Just made it feel like the story ended pretty quickly once the fighting was done and there was not much else for me to look forward to. Probably because you knew the main character's whole story after that short bit of fighting... lol which is probably my fault for choosing to focus on that instead of farming.I did love the graphics though.Meaning no offense to people who loved the game. :o For me, it just didn't quite work. Separating out the harvest moon aspect and the fighting aspect and elaborating on each as separate games while keeping the graphics and style would have been more effective, imo. :o Nevertheless, after saying all this, I'm still going to buy Rune Factory 2 (comes out November 18--tomorrow! I'll be in line to buy it). I'm too curious to see how they'll execute the second version to not buy it.

I got this game because critics said it was really cool. Harvest Moon + dungeon crawler. It was pretty cool but I just couldn't get into it. I really liked Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (GBA) and I was just so into that I guess I never switched over to Rune Factory. Maybe I'll try it again later.

Sounds like an amazing idea...Harvest moon games have always caught my interest for a short time - but the inclusion of this new battle system'll bring a breath of fresh air to the series. Roll on 2006 o.O

I cannot Agree more. Harvest Moon Is An Awesome Game!

It's not all that fun, especially when you have to wait a whole in game year to clear the next dungeon cause u weren't strong enough to clear em out in the first year. It gets rather frustrating.

I share your sentiment. I played rune factory and actually tried liking it, but lost interest in second dungeon. The fun feeling when playing Harvest Moon. It's just not there!!

I've been palying it for awhile now and went clear to the bottom of the first cave and I'm about one-forth of the way through the second one and I thnk it is a pretty neat game to play. What i really like is the seed maker, they could of done a better job on the greenifier item.

I've played the second, it's a lot of fun. The fighting makes it more interesting, but I get pissed off after a while when I get stupid things attacking me while I only want to water my plants.
