Indeed, Melee was a vast improvement on the original. Good solid sequel...only thing I miss is how powerful Snorlax was in the old one.

After playing Melee, the original on the N64 seems very very slow. And considering all the new modes, charaters, moves, items and stuff in Melee, I would have to say Melee is much better. And why wouldn't it be considering it's a sequel.

I've played both of these games, and I have to say I like the N64 version much better. Granted, I have the N64 version and only play Melee and friends' houses, but here are the things I like about the older version. You have to work to use smash attacks, the directional tap and A, rather than just tapping the analog stick, which can get pretty cheap. Also, there is more time in the air to use aerial attacks, because in Melee, the falling is more realistic, with acceleration as you fall towards the ground. Any other thoughts?

Melee is definately the better of the two. The extra characters and levels are too cool.

Don't ask me ro explain, just accept it, combos were better in the N64 version. Otherwise Melee is the hands down winner.

I like both, but I'd have to shoot for Melee. There are just more techniques that makes losers say "only n00bs do that".

Melee definitely. But my friend doesn't like it because I kill him more than I did in the 64 version. He says that they made the characters worse. I look at it as they added better physics to the game.

Well, seeing how only noods use quick smash, I would have to say Melee. More character, more levels, more game play, trophies, side scrolling adventure, better items, events. Plus the N64 version is way slower. Need I say more?

no, you need not. :wtf:
