Isn't Melee pretty much just the N64 version severely updated? The only thing that I liked better in the N64 version was that every character had their own way of entering the area instead of just teleporting in.

I like Melee more because of the new characters and stages. Also, better graphics and sounds. I also love the gamecube controller.

Ugh...you prejudice n00b gamers. Can't you guys accept old-school? It's a tie for me, but the first was really good. I liked the cartoony graphics and sound-effects, along with the suspended in air sorta thing. I'm STILL not used to the realistic, fast air physics of Melee.I love Melee though, trust me. 1 player was actually worth playing in that one.And one thing I didn't like about SSB is the lack of characters. Unlike you hi-tech, prejudice people, I UNDERSTAND that SSB is a very old game, but still, the lack of characters! I would of been pleased if that had 2-3 more characters. But I loved the SSB stages.

both are great games, and i cant stress enough how much ive spent playing them. but melle would have to be my faveorite out of the 2. lets see how brawl works out, i dont espessically like the idea of using that classic controller to play (might have to go buy a GC contoller eh?) it looks uncomfortable. but zerosuit samus, need i say more?

both are good games in general, but melee just has better graphics and more smooth controls. They also took some time to balance the characters.

MELEE RULES! Too bad there's no emulator!More characters, more stages and two hands as bosses, along with Home Run Contest... what isn't there to like?

I'm an original kinda guy. I like the original on the N64, simply because the N64 controller, by any stretch of the definition, I feel is one of the best controllers ever created. Perfect size, and it doesn't feel cheap. The buttons register awesomely and its adaptable to almost any game, with anyone's hands. The Gamecube controller just doesn't feel as comfortable when playing Melee, and I got a blister trying to pull off my N64 Kirby combos. Noticeable difference...Kirby got nerfed XD .

i have thought on this before and i think Kyle20 is most right...they are tied in my mindSSBM has more characters & items, better graphics, and some more modes to play but the original seems more balanced, and less crazy without almost random outcomes, plus i liked the board the platforms thing more than the homerun stuff

They both are really great, but it was the first one's popularity and fun that actually made the second one possible.

The one on n64 is way better. The graphics arent as good but the gameplay is way better. The levels in melle are too small.

Melee takes the cake here, people. It is excellence, perfection. There is just an infinite amount of posibilities in Melee, the characters moves are smooth and awesome, and you can get into some really fierce fights where it's an all out, no holds barred, every man for himself frenzy. No doubt in my mind whatsoever, Melee is the better game, period.Think you're ready? Think again... B)
