both games have thier good points, but Id have to say I like the origonal better. I played it when I was little so I get a feeling of nostalgia when I play it now.

melee. it has more items, more stages, more characters, heck more of everything. and more is always good.

HOHO i luv topics about ssb well the things are i think ness got way weaker in ssbm...>.> but theres more chars in ssbm i just think they shoulda kept the old stats of the other chars...i say ssbm is better cuz they got classix like roy and dr mario

I really liked the N64 version but I can't really compare cause someone stole mine a week after I got it . Though I think even if I had it I'd like Melee better/

I liked the N64 version alot better. Melee has too much happening on the screen, for me you can lose your character pretty quickly

Melee, just for the fact you get more choice in character, maps, etc. Besides, the graphics are better, and the moves look cooler too.

honestly i prefered the gameplay in the N64 version as i find the gamecube version too fast but the N64 version didnt hav enouh characters...

While I have played both quite extensively, I prefer Melee over the N64 version because of the greater levels and characters, as well as the better graphics.
