I much prefer the Melee version. It brings in a much higher level of skill requirement than the N64 version, and has more moves and much better graphics. I'm not overly obsesses with the additional characters, since I use Fox for both versions. Some of them are really just altered versions of already existing characters (such as Falco and Pichu) The N64 version was just too slow; it's so easy to just throw an enemy into a wall and catch them back without any practice. The additional tactics in the Melee version make for a very large playing field to experiment in. One of the few things I do prefer in the N64 version is that the throw was at least a veritable move which could be useful, rather than in the Melee where it is so much more underpowered.

Simple due to the fact that Melee has more possibilies with the characters, more moves, combos etc, it can be said that it requires more skill in order to win against another opponet. More skill, less luck.

Melee is a great and addictive game, but the N64 version is a classic, and classics were made to be remembered trough generations. Now, this thread It's more like comparing Super Mario Bros 3 and Mario 64...:P

Melee is just a better game.

Asking whether melee or the original is the better game is like asking if I'd rather be tickled or have sex. Melee is just better.

well im a sucker for graphics...so when it comes to these to i well automadicly go for melee...but there are many things i love about melee more then the 64 version...like the wide veritie (sorry for my spelling) of characters, items, levels, and of cource the diffrent type of fighting games....My fav was the stamina fight ...cant remember the exact name for it.....the one thing that took me a while to get usto was the size of the characters in the lvls...they seemed huge compared to the 64 version

the throws are somewhat kind of weak in Melee, but chain throws could lead up to a lot of damage, and in N64 you can't do that, however I like how N64 version theres like almost no lag time for miss grabs. Which i'm thankful for in a sense, to people who know only how to throw

hmmm.... i guess the single player in Melee was better (i only borrowed the game; don't own it or a GC)I liked SSB original a lot. I am a Captain Falcon Expert (i can 3 lvl9s with team attack off, 6 stock, without losing a life)and i hear he was weakened up a bit in SSBM, so its SSB Original for me

Melee all the way, much more characters, maps, theres stages, more weapons, theres more mini games, adventure mode, trophies, etc., but I was used to the N64's Super Smash, so it took me a while to get used to the fighting speed.

melee is smash 2.0. It's the best. Everything is like perfectly balanced and just all around much more impressive. The beam sword in smash is like, DEADLY when you're someone like Mario and you get too far away from your enemy. In Melee, you can use quick moves and fakeouts to get in close and take him out. Altho, hey, there are some things you like more about a more annoying beamsword...like using it.But really, melee is fantastic.

Easily melee because there is much more content to the game. There are more stages, characters, and moves( and therefor strategies).

Definitely Melee. I switched back to the N64 once and realized just how much melee has that the original doesn't have.

I enjoy Melee more because the larger amount of characters, items, and stages add more strategy.

While Smash Bros for the N64 was a great game I would have to say that Melee is much more better.

Melee is a superior game in almost every way.My biggest complaint is that they downgraded Ness so that he isn't as super powerful.
