Melee was way better than N64. The battle system, items, graphics, characters, minigames, stages, everthing. I mean I've had it for years and still find it entertaining!

Taking every aspect of awesomeness that each brought in...i would have to say Super Smash Bros. N64 version because it was the first...and they built that game from the ground upThe SSBM game they knew what they were doing so they could add but it didnt take as much creativity to add a few moves here and a few characters

I liked the trophies in Melee. (I'm such a dork T_T) But I also liked the snapshot function, and the graphics were beautiful. But I liked the stages better in the N64 version.

Both SSB and SSBM are good because of what they had at the time even if SSBM is a better game SSB had less tech to use and had very little to use and build off.

Meh, They are both really fun to play. I'd have to say The original. I liked to bumper in the first one, having a bumper match was a blast! That, and when I unlocked somthing in the first one, It felt like an accomplishment. Melee makes it too easy for me to unlock everything. I've done it all several times since I got the game. If they could balance out the differences, make the game as Hard as the N64 version, and as if not more content then Melee, it'd be a great game!I'm not saying that these games aren't good. All this time, and I have yet to find a game I like more. infinite replay value, if you ask me. not even Halo puts me in that kind of mood.

I liked both, but Melee has my vote for the better one. Link, Samus, Sheik and Kirby (if you know how to use him properly) are all badass in my opinion. As for the 64 one, I liked playing as Mario and Link.

I think that Melee is a better game only because of the fact that you have more options. I did every single thing there was to do on the N64 version and i did seven or eight times! I deleted my memory so I would have something else to do! I've had Melee since it came out and I'm just getting close to getting it done with. At which point I can go play RE4. YAY!!! :)

People only think melee is better because of the graphics and its newer. The old snes,n64 and other system games will alwyas be better than remakes.I choose ssb64

Surely, like everybody said, melee is better.Few months ago, I loaned old ssb for my n64, played it for awhile. When I went back to melee, I could hardly keep up in the first matches, because of the difference in speed, I mean ssb just is slow.Anyway it's cool in ssb if you can play well with Ness, there's no way anyone outsider can match you. In melee, character differences have beed leveled.

The Gc version is way better, more characters and game modes and levels. All around more things to do and master.

Melee is better, smashes can be charged, which can't be done on the C stick, but definately more character, and the falling isn't accelarated the weight and resistances of some characters have been changed so it may seem that way.
