i think melee was much better than the n64 one especially because of the characters.

melee is better. i dont own either of the games, but i have played both many times. ssb for N64 was slow, and everything was..um..bigger, but the stages were smaller. plus in melee there are more things to do than in the original

The N64 version was a revolution in it's own time, and a great game to boot. But because of good graphics, more replay value, easier controls, addition of characters, etc. Melee by far beats out the original.

i agree with blueraven yes at the time ssb was THE best game to ever hit any system(man i still remember when it first came out, i stayd up for 3 days playing it man good times) but then something happened..... they announced ssbm  imy first reaction was WTF they are so going to mess up the first ones foundations but........ i was waaaaaaaaaay wrong. it maneged to take the game and absolutly doubled every thing(exept the graphics.......it was tripled ) so to finish it was no brainer at the time ssb was the best and a classic but ssbm is also a classic and by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar takes the vote

You take the N64 version, you add caracters, moves, stages, modes, trophies, etc. and you have Melee. Why would you pick de N64 one?

I go for the N64. I like the classics. And the moves of the GC version are so confusing.

I was incredibly bad at video games when i had the n64 so i would have to go with what i actually have some good experiences with. Gamecube for me.

Both these games were one of my favourite games for these systems but seeing as marth is my favourite character i am going to have to go with melee because it has marth, and because you can do more then just fight

I'm going to have to go with melee, cause there's better graphics, better music, and you get to play as Roy from Fire Emblem 6.

Melee is the better game as a game of this nature really benefits from great graphics, because the gameplay is fast and in-your-face. The GC version is beautiful.I still play the N64 version from time to time though!
