Zidane and Dagger was my favey. Then again, they were all pretty good. But I'm a sucker for FFIX.

I'm not one for love stories, but the ending of the Zidane/Dagger loves story made me smile.

Final Fantasy 10 had a great story to it, especially between Tidus and Yuna.

Ugh, I hate love stories in rpgs.... half the time they seem so unnecessary. It's almost akin to mindless sex scenes that appears out of the blue in an action movie. And before you dudes say anything, think of it from my viewpoint: You're so busy saving the world or something, going on tons of missions and slaying a dozen monsters. and then all of a sudden the chick/dude in the party is all like: "I know we barely had any actual time to get to know each other and that I was basically just tagging along, but I just wanted you to know that I love you." It's kinda out of the blue, you know? The only way it would work was if: 1) The rpg was almost like a dating simulation, where you get to select from a list of responses/actions in regards of choosing where to take the storyline, to boost up your friendship with certain teammates throughout the whole game. This way you get to really know all the characters, see how they interact.... and then it feels more realistic that they would fall in love just like that. 2)The love interest was a character that you supposedly knew for a very long time, with plenty of background story exploring so that you get to know that love interest, and why that person is so important to that character. BUT, this type of scenario can also be pretty much mangled. There's been a fair amount of rpg where the love interest was all like: "Hi! I'm your childhood friend who appeared randomly to tag along for a adventuresome ride. Regardless of how useful or useless I may be to you." and then from on there they never really show her past with the main character that much. Now that's bad.

I just lol'd at super paper mario's story. Timpani and Blumiere are unforgettable. Even though it's not deep at all, 2 pieces of paper loving each other just makes me chuckle.

Some that comes to mind...- Hiro and Lucia's one was pretty nice in Lunar 2.- DQVIII's hero and the horse princess is quite lovely too.- The subtlety of Balthier and Ashe's feelings for each other in FFXII has a nice vibe to it.- The triangle of feelings between Cecil, Rosa and Kain ran some of the FFIV story well.- Zidane and Garnet was very nice.- Jaheira and your male character's romance was very interesting in PC's Baldur's Gate 2 + TOB.- The subtle development of Rika's feeling foro Chaz in Phatansy Star 4 was kinda sweet.I seriously can't choose. I can name even na few more. Well these popped into my mind when I think to answer this topic.

I'm not really fond of RPG love stories. I honestly dis-like the whole "damsel in distress" thing I see in almost every love RPG because it's so over-used and corny..
