If you haven't noticed the DS seems to boast multiplayer play over anything else. You also have to consider that the original SSB games did in fact have very extensive single player modes, with lots of unlockables and things. If they expanded on this, I could see a very nice turnout of a first player game.As for the wi-fi issue, playing short range multiplayer on the DS seems to have virtually no lag. (Try playing mariokartDS with someone, then watch what happens to the gameplay as the distance increases. It will actually sit there and hang (not for too long, or it will give up) which confirms to me that the gameplay is realtime in this mode.I'm not too sure out they would handle online play for this type of game, where every split second move seems to count. The lag would definately be bad, because unlike mariokart (where the client-side AI can "guess" the player's position until an accurate position comes across the connection, resulting in bad connections looking "jumpy") Smash Bros relies on every bit of data every frame. It would be a great achievement by nintendo, but I don't know how feasable it would be.-thegamefreakPS: Several groups have in fact tried to make a DS version on their own, but when nintendo found out the groups were fined in the 6 figures for copyright infringement and the projects were canceled.
