If you like open-ended RPGs, then it's a pretty good game. If you prefer more structured RPGs, then don't bother. Speaking as someone who got it as a gift, the graphics are great, the storyline and gameplay are good and the control system is so-so. All in all, I'd say it's a decent way to spend $20-$40, especially if you get the Game of the Year edition, which includes both expansions.

I personally cant stand it. Too open ended. If you want open ended, go online and play an mmorpg. To have to play this by yourself....zzzzz

The game is great...but if you don't like a lot of exploration or have a short attention span, you may want to look elsewhere. IMO, it's the truest RPG that ever was...none of that linear crap where you are forced to be a certain character, you truly choose your own role.

If you first get into this game you will play it for hours at a time. I'd call Morrowind a drug. Your possibilities are pretty much endless. There are mods which add quests/weapons and all kinds of stuff, plus both expansions which again adds a ton to do. If you like freedom in a game, you'll love this one. Conspiracies are plentiful, as are strange evil creatures and such. The world in the game is so large you'd probably spend several hours crossing the island.. Not quite sure, me, I use COC =P

Dont buy it! its a great game, i loved it, beat it, and its expansions, but wait for elder scrolls 4. Oblivion is going to blow it away. it will totaly make that game obsolete.

I thought this game was great, and cannot wait to play Morrowind IV Oblivion when it comes out. This game is a single player game, you can choose from a line of races. Many different skills to level up ranging from what kind of combat weapon you use, to the type of magic and even smaller things like sneak and lockpick. Picture this game like grand theft auto almost, you go to different places in this world and do missions for them. There is a main storyline chain of missions, and side missions from many different factions like the Thieves guild, mages guild, fighters guild, etc etc. Yeah it is really open ended. I would reccomend this to anyone who likes a action based RPG game, check out www.gamespot.com and look up this game for more info if your looking into getting it. There are also 2 expansions to this game, Tribunal and Bloodmoon.

Morrowind is very open-ended, the first time i played it i ended up doing side quests for a few days before realizing it wasnt the main quest, at the time it came out it looked very beautful, now its kinda dated. You can do whatever you want in that game, kill any npc, steal from anyone and then sell it back to em (actually they'll notice you stole it from them so sell it to thier neighbor). what i really liked about it is all the mods you can find online, theres a website i cant quite remember with a ton of mods from clothing to gameplay mods, I think thats why i liked it the most. But in the end i dont think you should buy it, Oblivion (morrowind's sequal, sorta) is comming out early next year (damnit they delayed it I WANT OBLIVION NOWWWW) and it looks 100x better than morrowind.

I played this game years ago, when I did it was amazing. I had a top notch computer back then and Morrowind still ran slow! I can't wait for the new sequal to come out in March or whatever.

if you have a spare $20, go pick up the GOTY edition.if you have a spare $60, wait a month and buy oblivion.also, remember about system specs. morrowind runs on both my computers, one of which has no graphics card whatsoever. Oblivion will most likely require a top end graphics card to look half decent.

Morrowind was a lot of fun when I played it, but like the other posters, I'd recommend just waiting for Oblivion, assuming your hardware is capable of running it. Now, *some* people would just download it anyway--but I'm sure no one here would do something as illegal as *that*.
